Getting started...

Well, here I am trying to get a SVTOA chapter started in Augusta. I got every name/addres I could off the SVTOA member locator thing that was in the same or nearby ZIP codes. Next thing to do, I suppose, is to start stuffing envelopes.

Question: Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I should put in those envelopes? Do I do a flyer? Do I arrange with the dealership some sort of prospect-meeting-thing? Do I send some sort of letter of intent or something? What's someone else think?

That's where it sits right now, as we gotta have two members named to positions of Director and Activities Director before we can proceed with a charter application.

Yeah, I just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago. I also got the first-two-steps packet in the mail from the SVTOA guys today. I'll be reading that and touching base again with the dealership this week. I figure I got nothing much to do Thursday and Friday, so that sounds like the perfect opportunity. He also answered my question about contacting local members. I think we're on a good track here toward getting this little dream off and running.

I'm sure someone will call with the answer no sooner than I finish typing this, but where/when/how often are the SVTOA chapter leadership training seminars? Maybe that's jumping the gun, but I like to have a grip on ideas well ahead of having to use them, so I get time to think things through.

Anyhow, Gene, thanks a MMILLION again for all the help and support thus far. It really does mean a lot to me...
