BIG thanks got out to Team JDM for their wonderful hospitality in hosting the first DelVal SVTOA dyno day!!! :allhail: :allhail: :allhail: Jim and his crew did a wonderful job in getting us all strapped down and tested. The fall air was right for making some serious numbers today! We had 12 vehicles on the dyno today including a Contour and a 505hp 2003 Cobra!!!
Can those who participated post their dyno sheets or their numbers, please? :tmb:
I made 301.51HP and 312.72TQ on my best pull. I'll post my sheet when I get it uploaded Monday morning.

All I can say WOW! :tmb: It was awesome, much more fun and exciting than I expected.
:D Hats off to Jim, Julie, Shawn and the staff at JDM Engineering for allowing us to do a dyno day at their Shop. Thank you!
:allhail:
A big Thank You to Jamie for ALL of his time and effort in setting this awesome activity up for us!
Last but not least, thanks to all the participants, without you, this couldn't have happened!
The sound of 500+ HP from a 2003 Cobra, AWESOME!:jawdrop:

Will post my curve tomorrow.
Numbers were: 422 HP and 391 torque, SAE.
434 HP and 402 torque, STD.
I'm interested in this SAE versus STD deal. Numbers seem to read about 2 or 3% higher with STD correction. Both methods supposedly correct for temp, atmospheric pressure and humidity, but use different formulae. Look carefully and you'll see that the correction factors were about .97 for SAE, meaning that our conditions were better than SAE standard, so the computer decreased the actual measured numbers by about 3%. Most of the STD corrections were 1.00, meaning that their standard conditions were essentially the same as what we had at JDM. Our Contour, running backwards with the hood out the door, had a colder intake temperature than my Cobra, and the calculation factor was therefore lower (.96). Interesting stuff. I will try to find the actual formulae used in these calcs.
Great thanks to Jamie for organizing this and Jim and Sean at JDM. It was really fascinating and well worth the bucks. Only problem is I still can't hear, 1 day after Gary's last dyno runs!!! Man, that thing is nastier than any race car I've ever heard at a track!!

The difference is this:
There are two standards commonly used for correcting power: STD and SAE.
STD is defined as: 59 F, 29.92” Hg, 0% humidity. It is the same thing as 100% RAD.
SAE is defined as: 77 F, 29.23” Hg, 0% humidity. It is the same thing as 94.4% RAD.
RAD = Relative Air Density
The environmental variables matchd 100% RAD so closely that SAE correct numbers were not needed. You should only use SAE corrected numbers if the deviation from 100% RAD is greater than like 20%. We were at something like 97% RAD because the humidty was 40 some-odd percent but the overall temps were in the low 60's inside the shop. Out barometric pressure hovered between 29 and 30 Hg all day. So what we lost in humidity, we picked up in the 15 degrees lower temperature. It evened out so the STD readings were only 2-3% off of SAE corrected readings which is why Jim said it didn't make a difference.
Too many people put too much stock in SAE corrected readings for the wrong reasons. STD readings are what we saw and after reading up on it they are more accurate, IMO, for our conditions for the dyno day.

It was a great day for all that attended. I'm happy with 435/522. Thanks to everyone that participated in the pool (dinner was excellent).
Most memerable quote:
Gary: "It really isn't THAT loud"
:spank: "Hey, where you going with that bagel?" :spank: was a close second.
:tmb:Thanks Jamie, for all your effort. I appreciate all the work you put into it.:allhail:

I enjoyed the day and the company, but Fred walked away with the $$$!!!! I suppose that it's justified seeing as how he's put probably over 100 times that into his truck!!!

Jamie, awesome pics and videos. Great to have this record.
John, thanks for info and link about STD, SAE stuff. Very interesting stuff to my tech minded small brain.
Jamie, why didn't you get any pics of Fred in his "puffy guy" outfit??
And, again, why can't I hear anything today at work????

Sean,
Glad that all worked out!
That thread on ModularFords was fascinating, with Joe D. speaking with Jim D'Amore and Brian Herron. You got all the heavy hitters involved! Interesting to me-- Joe and Jim have gained their expertise through experience and smarts-- neither have an engineering background and don't necessarily understand the science going on. Doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing though. Brian Herron sounds like an engineer. They're all pretty sensitive about preserving their reputation and business!
I still think wonder if you had a bad tank of gas?

Herb,
Check the fine print. 100K, except in New Jersey, only good until 42K.
