This is a computer rendition of the next Focus. This will be a technological twin to the Next Volvo S40 and the Mazda3. Both cars will be sold in America, but not the Focus. Ford will instead substantially restyle the current car for 2005.

I wonder if thet will make an ST170 (or maybe ST 200+) version and if they do how well will it compete against our SVTFs. That will be the measure of what we will be missing.

I would prefer the 420 HP rear wheel Focus. (see SVTOA home page)

I haven't seen too many ugly products coming out of Ford. So I'm hopeful that this will remain true. I doubt those will be the rims they'll go with (they're hidious). Do you hink they would take a chance to go with such a conservative look when the claim to fame for their styling was the award-winnig "new-edge" style?(which everyone is copying now - think of the new Accord, maxima, Mazda 3, ...) Ford was probably the first with the Cougar in 1999 and Focus 2000.

Styling has always been one of Ford strengths (in my opinion). Think of Mustang, Probe GT, T-Bird, Lincoln LS, Explorer/Escape, FOCUS, Escort GT, Taurus SHO, COUGAR V6, SVT Contour, F-150 Lightning... Pretty decent looking cars.
**Plus look at their good-looking Euro cars like the Puma, Mondeo...

The front fender line is really strange; it would flop in the US. I think GM has a new Opel in Europe with a similar styling cue. One of the best things I like about my SVT Focus (besides how great it is to drive) is that Ford managed to style it differently from all of the competition AND still keep the car attractive.

It's not so bad. Though I still prefer the look of the current Focus. Kind of BMW'ish down the side. The new C1 platform is supposed to be pretty sweet. Too bad we won't see it under the U.S. Focus until at least '07, so the experts say.

Also, the new Volvo S60 is pretty hot, too. 300hp, AWD, & a turbo. Woohoooo!:D

Most of the computer renderings don't look half bad for the C1 Focus. The ones that FordEurope.net have posted recently don't do much for me. In that one posted above, it looks quasi-Accord-ish :eek"

I'm just awaiting what we get over here.

Hey GApBoy. This is the only one I've seen so far. Can you tell us where we can see others? I agree, the guys at fordeurope.net have a fixation with the Mondeo front end and wants to see it on everything.

Thanks

From my understanding, the new Focus WILL somehow look like a Mondeo. Call it "family resemblance", or whatever. Just remember, we had our period with the whole Taurus/Sable jellybean/oval deal.

We found these pictures online and saw some interesting work-in-progress changes:

I like the picture of the silver...but I hope it's the camo that makes the other one look ugly! lol
