I spoke with one of the guys at 800-ford-svt and he said that several people have had continued problems with there cars stalling even after the PCM update.... Thee supposed cause is "oiled air filters" They said most of these problems can be resoved by OEM style filters and MAS replacement.
Just a thought! As the MAS isn't covered under warrenty if there is oil related problems to it!

Over-oiling of air filters will cause problems with Ford MAF sensors - or any hot-wire type MAFs. Just ask any 5.0L Mustang owner from about 1989 on with a K&N.
It is possible to clean the sensor yourself, with carburetor cleaner and a Q-Tip. But it's a delicate job.
I think Ford is within its rights not to warranty the MAF if it's contaminated by air filter oil. Of course, you could always use this as an excuse to buy a bigger MAF.

I can't imagine anyone oiling their filter to this excess! New, from the box, there is no way this would happen. This sounds like a cop out.
I've had a K&N since the first week I owned my SVTF, with RLA2, and it NEVER stalled. After YRF, it stalled about half a dozen times the first week, and has been fine ever since. Doesn't sound like an oiled AF issue to me.
(PS: I had 3 5.0L Mustangs from '88 - '90, all with K&N's, never had any issues.)
Sorry, I can't support this theory. ( I notice they*SVT* said "most"......what about the rest???)

An SVT mechanic told me the same about excess filter oil cooking onto the MAS elements and on my wife's '91 5.0L that was the cause of her rough idle and intermittent "check engine". This only happened after I over oiled the K&N after a cleaning though; some carb cleaner and a Q-tip did the trick.

Well, my filter was ew when placed on and have not had to clean it... I'll use the carb cleaner and q tip thing and hope it fixes the problem... As well as remove the filter and replace with stock one! What a head ache! Never had any problem with any ofther car with a K&N! AGHHHHHHH!
I've used them in a caravan, grand vitara, b2600 truck! Oh well... Hope cleaning it fixes it! If not then Guess it will have to be replaced... I'll post again if I end up replacing it!

Yes you can clean the sensor yourself but all you need to do is spray it with non-chlorinated brake clean. You risk damaging the sensor if you touch the elemints with anything. I had to clean the one on my '92 5.0 LX. Just spray it off and let it dry.
