I like the Cliffords. I had one in my '99 and I'm planning on one in my '03. I had an Intelliguard system with a motion sensor for interior of my 'vert and it worked very well. This system also has an external port so that, with the cable kit, you can program it with a computer instead of via the remote.

I have a viper with motion sensor in my 95 Gt vert only thing is when it rains hard the motion sensor sets off the alarm even with the sensitivity turned down because of the soft top

Beabout I realy like your reply's a little bit of humor but allways to the point. Personally I had the factory alarm activated it works great for me. Not much $$$$$$$$$ Rachrse

So Called factory alarm is not an alarm , but the "PATS" ( Passive Anti Thieft System),, Basicallin is the computer chip in the key which will not allow car to start without the properly programed key.
FORD does have several alarm systems which can be installed and work from the factory key fobs. Contact you dealer for details. They are warranted thru Ford. (Reccomment these over aftermarket due to the complicated electronics in the cars and generally poorly trained installers in the aftermarket (Meaning they don't know the specific cars system well))

The alarm in my car works like an aftermarket, tap the window it goes off shake the car it goes off loud noise it goes off. I think most ford car are factory wired for alarm. Like cobra tx says ford has different systems. My system was offered when I took delivery.

I found a little spot on the ford system on their website (http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/accessories/index.asp?nid=102), but it didn't have specifics. How do they compare to other systems? What about Clifford vs. Viper... anyone know sites comparing these?

Viper and Clifford are both owned by DEI. http://www.directed.com. If you are looking for a good alarm with good features and awesome reliability, go for a Viper 600. But before you have an alarm installed, talk to your installer. Your alarm is only as good as the installation. Find a shop that takes pride and puts serious work in their alarm installs. Conventionally, alarms are installed underneath the drivers side of the dash. This provides easy access to the alarm and makes the vehicle easy to steal. As an installer, I install all of my alarms in an hard to reach location. I never let anyone watch. I also keep my wiring clean and factory looking. The best alarm in the world can be as good as no alarm at all with a poor installation.
