View Full Version : Europeans SVTs?
Hello
Ï'm new here.
Since August, I'm the proud owner of a zinc yellow 2003 Cobra convertible (4200 Miles, and still very hapy!!!)
A good friend also has a 2003 Lightning (Registered here yesterday).
I live in Liechtenstein, a very small country in central Europe (between Switzerland and Austria).
Near the Swiss Alps and the German Autobahn.... an excellent place for a Cobra!
(2.5 hours to Munich, 1 hour to Zuerich, 2 hours to Milan, 4 hours to Geneva, 7 hours to Paris...)
There are a few 2003 Cobras in Switzerland (approx. 3), and some more Lightnings. But I dont have contact with them and I dont know know any in Germany, Austria, Italy and other near Countrys...
Are any Europeans with SVTs here in this Forum?
Best regards, Stefan

That’s fantastic to see the Euro Stangs.
Not sure how many others from Europe are on this site.
Even if there is not! You have many SVT Friends here.
How nice must it be to drive on you road with your Cobra
Does your rcar get any respect were you live or does you American car just get past in conversation?

Oh! ya when can we come visit ? All the Time! Just inform me if you come near to Liechtenstein!
If there is no snow, we can make a nice trip to the Alps - or the German Autobahn (some parts with no speed limit!)...
Im often travelling myself:
Last week of November I will be in Denver for business, somebody here from there?
In January I will be in Shanghai for a few weeks. Wondering, if there are any SVTs in China?
Does your rcar get any respect were you live or does you American car just get past in conversation? Maybe same like German cars is US. Some like it, some hate it.
But the Cobra is absolutely unknown here.
People are surprised how fast it is!
(Most people here think, US cars are just heavy and slow and need a lot of gas...)
I wouldn't want to be buying gas for my '03 at European prices. Ouch!! Thats one of the reasons, why there are almost no US-Cars!
Everything here is more expensive! Gas is $1 per Litre! One tire for a Cobra is approx. $ 400....
Thats why I drive the Mustangs only at nice weather, mostly at weekends. My everyday-car is a very ugly french car: a RENAULT TWINGO with 55 HP.... to save a lot of Money!
==> But still no response of an European SVT Cobra?
Best regards, Stefan

Stefan,
Great pics! Mind if I post them on our club website here in Charleston, South Carolina?

Welcome to the forum Stefan. Lots of good people and information to be found here. That's why I'm here!
My garage is not an SVT dealer and I want to get as much information as possible myself...

Welcome Stefan,
I think we're probably all jealous of the roads you have to cruise on with your Mustangs.
Beautiful car and scenery - can't beat it!

Welcome to the SVTOA. Its great to see a Cobra in Europe, and it must be fun driving on the autoban with your Cobra. How many Mustangs do you have? It must be hard to find parts in your country or do you locate them on your travels to the USA? If you ever come to Wisconsin let me know, I live near Milwaukee.:)
I think we're probably all jealous of the roads you have to cruise on with your Mustangs. Yes, there are very beautiful roads in the Swiss Alps...
But you also have very nice roads in your country!
their is a few of us here in Denver, if you have some extra time let me know, i can give you a ride from the airport ! e-mail me to let me know. Sounds great! It will also be interesting to compare your car with mine (Example: Is my Transmission noise "normal" or to loud - I have no reference here, but its loud!).
I will have a stressfull Job over there, but I hope I will have the time to meet you and your friends!
==> I will inform you, if I know more details about my trip. The only thing I know in the moment is: I will be in Golden in Week 47 for approx. one week. I heard thats the "Thanks Giving" week (But I'll have to work at Thanks Giving).
Its great to see a Cobra in Europe, and it must be fun driving on the autoban with your Cobra. Yes its nice. But the Autobahn gets boring after a few hours. I prefer more the streets in the Alps: Lots of corners and nice enviroment. The German Autobahn is more like a fight: A lot of Agression and Traffic there....
How many Mustangs do you have? It must be hard to find parts in your country or do you locate them on your travels to the USA? I have the 2003 Cobra and a 1969 Mach I. To get the parts for the old one is not that problematic: Most of the parts I order from US (e.g. MUSTANGS UNLIMITED). But I have also a lot of friends here: One has several houses full of Mustang Parts. He collects Big Blocks and he has everything I need...
For the Cobra, I will have to order parts via my Garage. To get the parst can take one ore two weeks... not so funny-but its a very exklusive Car here!
If you ever come to Wisconsin let me know, I live near Milwaukee. In the past I was a customer support enginer and travelled to allmost every country of the world. Now I changed to the development departement and will not travel so often anymore. But If I come to Milwauke, I will inform you!
Sh.., its snowing outside, my Mustangs have to rest!

Hello Clldreese
I will be in Golden from 15. Nov to 24. Nov.
Not sure if I will have time, I´ll have a stressful Job there.
For the moment I have no Notebook, not sure if I will have an Internet connection for non-business use....
Could you mail me a telephone number where I can contact you, if I will be there?
Best regards,
Stefan

Welcome.
I noticed in your rear view picture that your model has resonators; is this standard equipment due to noise? How does it sound?
The resonators might make for an interesting sound given the rest of my exhaust mods.
Hi Silversnake
Sorry for the delayed answer - I was in Denver and had no Laptop with me...
The Resonators are not standard!
I had to install them because the car was to loud for the Restrictions in Liechtenstein and Switzerland!
But with the stock exhaust and this resonators the car was incredible quiet ...to quiet for a muscle car!
So I tried the MAGNAFLOW - because some guys said it is "not Loud"...
Whatever means "not Loud" in US - for our police the MAGNAFLOW Sound is a reason to make you big troubles!
So I installed the resonators to the MAGNAFLOW and got a really interesting Sound:
- Not (to) loud in idle and normal cruising
- Still some "Character" of a Musclecar
- Interesting (Loud) sound at full throttle.
In the Moment my car is in the Garage for a few weeks (installing a Kmh Tacho seems to be a bigger problem than it seemd... and looking for the reasons of the "Pop"-Noise of my rear axle (They still did not find the reason, anyway its winter here and I dont need the car).
If I get it back, I can make some Audio-Files if you are interested...
Best regards
Stefan
....and thanks to Clldreese for the nice Cobra-ride in Denver!
Was nice to drive first time with an other Cobra than my....

Yes, I would like some audio files of your car; thank you. Also, what brand of resonators did you install?

Walker type 517898 with Chromed "ClipOn" tips:
http://www.notinlist.li/images/mustang%20cobra/SVT%20Endrohr.jpg
I have to use this type because its listed in my licence papers and every cop will check it!!!!!!
The diameter of this type is ok for the stock pipes (picture). For the MAGNAFLOW it is a little to small (the pipe fits exact INSIDE the Magnaflow pipe!).
Sorry, in the moment I have no pictures from the installation with Magnaflow, but it looks similar.
The resonator is only a pipe where you can see through! Inside this pipe are some holes. I think it will be easy to make an adjustable loudness, if you close the holes with a thin piece of sheet metal which you can move on the holes or away from them....
Best regards, Stefan
