View Full Version : Suggestion for everyone

I had an O2 sensor go out yesterday. Well I had it replaced today and while they were at it they loaded a new ECU flash and my car runs better than day 1. I'm not saying it will help everyone, but I think the factory ECU code mixes the air fuel a little to rich and this newer code does not...possibly to keep from ruining the O2 sensors...I'm not sure. All I'm saying is it might be worth a try...unfortunately I never dyno'd my car before so I'll never be able to tell if it resulted in an hp increase, but this might be something to investigate further. I have also not been able to test to see if it fixes high idle though it does appear to help some with the stumbling. I have not noticed any surging either.

Did it get rid of the stumbling bet 2 & 3k? I've been holding off taking my car into the dealership until I heard word that they have got the new code for the ECU ready.

it appears to help with surging at 3k....i don't know about stumbling....my definition of a surge and stumble may be different from yours.

No I think it's the same thing. For the life of me I couldn't think of the word I wanted to use, which was surging ;)

well, you might want to consider going in...or just wait for one of your O2 sensors to fail in which case they'll do it anyways.

Inteller, when did you pick up your car? I'm pretty sure mine was probably built near the same time yours was, as I picked mine up mid april. I just want to know if I should get the ECU flashed on mine.
Just the fact that Ive seen SVT's pulling 155 whp stock, vs mine which pulled about 147. I have to believe theres something not tuned right, and I'm hoping this ecu flash would fix that. (oh and the dyno numbers were on the same dyno, same day) so it's valid ;)

mine was built on the 26th I believe. number is in the sig. You might go ask for the ECU program since you can go dyno afterwards and figure out what was up...heck I noticed my car was pulling in 5th the other day...it never did that before.

Will a dealer flash my ecu for no reason or do I have to make something up?

well, if you have to make something up just tell them your CEL has been coming on intermittently. They'll get it in, check it out and if they are smart and see the old ECU code they will reprogram it.
