I have noticed that my 2002 Lightning locks the doors when I start driving. Sometimes it take a while for the dorrs to lock. Is this a feature, or do I have a short that occurs when I move.

Its a feature, mine does it too. I think it is triggered by a switch on teh brake pedal. It doesn't happen unless the brake pedal is depressed a certain distance. Sometimes they lock as soon as I pull away from my spot and sometimes they don't lock for a mile or two. It may be an inertia or mercury switch sensitive to the G-forces exerted by braking. Hence, if you don't brake hard enough, the switch doesn't trigger and the doors don't lock.
This is the kind of stuff that I wish car companies would release documentation on that is more accessible than trying to weasel a set of shop manuals out of a dealer somewhere.
Anyway, its not a problem because it has happened to my truck from day one.

This is a "feature" that can be deactivated by going through a procedure in your owners manual. Look under "Door Locks" in the index and it should outline what you need to do. (I don't have it with me or I'd tell you where exactly it is).
