Ok, today when pulling into work the coolant light came on and then I noticed "smoke" (actually coolant burning off the hot parts on engine). Well, I turned the engine off immediatley and opened the hood. There was green coolant around the cap, I couldn't see any leaks in the hoses or holes in the resivor, when I went to remove the cap it seemed really loose to me. I got some new coolant and put it in up to full, then started the car and didn't notice anything leaking or wrong.

Has there been a problem with the caps in the past. I will drive around a while and see if the problem reoccurs, I guess I can buy a new cap.

Hmm. . . .

If it is too full it will blow out and spray over everything. You may also have a problem. If you have not done so, change the thermostat and recharge the cooling system.(new coolant with a 50/50 mix)

Mike,

Thanks for the help. It turns out the cap was just loose for some reason, I refilled the coolant and everything seems to be just fine now.

Thanks!:tmb:

Heh...I was going to ask you if you had just had your oil changed or anything where someone of suspicious knowledge might have loosened the cap and not tightened it back up. ;)

But I figured that was to obvious.
