yeah my slowest 60' was a shade over 2.4.....and i was taking everything off the line, with the exception of a blown 5.0 on race slicks that ran a 10.6 at some ungodly mph. i even took a 96 mustang gt with an intake, cat back and x pipe, he was soooo pissed that he lost to a focus.

My last run at rockingham was 14.987 at 93.6mph with 2.3 60ft
at the time I had a gutted hatch intake exhaust underdrive pulley, and offroad pipe.
Hadn't been back since I got racing seats all carpet removed, cam gear, shaved a extra 150lbs off my car
weight without driver now 2600lbs

i only took out the passenger seat, had the aem cai, focus central underdrive pulleys, and two and a half inch cat back exhaust. I have an aem cam gear but i dont know how to install it or where to take it to get it installed. i think if i was fully stripped with a racing bucket and a good launch i think 14.7-8 would be no problem.

how do you launch an SVTF?
my best at the track (first timer) was 16.7 @ 87 with a 2.65 60' and 0.96 reaction...those are all my bests....I had my share of 3.0+ 60's and 1.4 reactions...I'm just not good
I figured the best to launch at would be about 3500rpms
btw: I have urethane rear motor mount, k&n drop-in, and clutchmasters Stage 1 clutch.

08-06-2004, 06:22 AM
Try launching @ 3k or a little below, slip the clutch for another 500rpm or so then let it bite all the way. If not you'll bog down. Tire spin gives us bad times if you launch to a high rpm. I don't have a stage 1 clutch so I could be wrong.

11.86 @ 119.22 on the first pass yesterday (Great Lakes Dragaway, WI). Managed to miss second on the 2nd run and pull at 12.5 @ something like 120 or so. I had to take off and they were having printer issues. In any case, the second run wasn't much fun when all I hear is blower. Oh well...next time.

Was nice to see you yesterday. The car looks GREAT and you woulda killed me if you hit all your gears... This old man can still cut a light though!!!
You should have heard the guys from ESPN talking about your car!! When Pat Hart was interviewing them in the tower, they mentioned the "Red Shelby that ran 11's" and they were VERY impressed with your car!! They said that with all the gassers and doorslammers that were there for the NSCB event. That says a LOT!!
On DR's we're running nearly identical times... (time in my sig is on M/T DR's) We need to get a race later this summer, get in touch with me, I'll comp you in to the track as my guest...

"Old man" my butt. I've got socks your age! Yeah, it was a pleasure. Sorry I had to fly but my daughter was waiting and we were late to pick up mom and head for Indy.
Yes, second gear would have been nice. :wtf: I think that run between you and I ended up at mid 12's @ 120 or so. They had the slips goofed up. I saw you pull over but the princess said we had to fly.
I'll get up there again soon. Shoot me a message with your email and I'll let you know when I can get up. By the way, the Sta-Bil Kruze is this weekend in Chicago. Mustang is the featured car. It's all supposed to be pre-85 but I got in because it's a "special edition" car. Whatever! It'll be fun. Kruze is 8a-10a. Free car show at Soldier Field at 10a-???
Thanks for the pic. I'd love to have a copy of that if you have it!!

Well, one minor twist... I just picked up GT-500 of my own... :)
I need to put some miles on it before I do anything with it...

Possibly. I'm debating keeping it original... But I won't take it to the dragstrip until there's more miles on it...

That's settin' the bar BJ!!! I'm telepathic though! Steve and I were talking at the WISVTOA Cruise/BBQ yesterday, and I said "BJ asked me to go racing with him this morning, I bet with this good air and the sun to warm the track he gets a new best"
Congrats my friend, that's badass!!! Wish I coulda been there to see it or make an attempt at hangin' with ya but we had a annual club event that I never miss.
We'll get down there soon though! We have three other guys with GT500's in the club that want to go, so let's make a GT500 day at the track.
Nice job and way to wave that SVT banner man!!!

I'm still waiting for the parts list from the builder, but here is an overview.
750 kit, oval throttle body, kit covers fuel rails, injectors, fuel pump
Larger intercooler
Lowered suppension
new control arms
aluminum drive shaft
differential girdle and frame support
Sway bar relocation and removal of old mounting point
Full length headers and 3" pipe w/Magnaflow axle back
Weld 15x10.25 rear wheels
MT ET Street Radials 325/50R15
I posted the dyno numbers in that section but here are the numbers:
725 max hp@6500 rpm
659 max torque@ 4600 rmp
The tune is still a little fat.
Waiting on new axles, differential, and 373 gears.
Can't come out of the hole hard until I get these installed.
