I have one of the early cobra's with the Tick Tick that falls under the head recall, the head is being replaced now and i wonder if any one who had the same if they had any problems after the work ? And did they replace the cams and lifters.

In some cases the entire motor has been replaced, not sure what the governing factors were, but in my opinion, that's the way to go if possible. I am really averse to having a Ford tech do the head swap. In the case that only the ehad is replaced, the good techs are able to do it with the motor in the car. Ask if they'll do it that way or if they'll yank it out. As far as I've heard the cams aren't replaced, but sometimes the lifters. I would recommend you do a dyno test before and shortly after to make sure everything is ok. Hope this helps.

Can you tell me if there was an actual recall on the head/ticking noise? Can you tell me the dates of when it is applicable, where I can get the recall info? I have the dreaded noise, my car was built July 30th 2002. Thanks for any info.

The TSB states that the tick is poss on motors built up to November 1, 2002. Once the dealer verifies the tick they will replace the head

My engine was built on 11/27/02 and had the tick.

There has not been a recall, it probably won't happen either. It affects all pre-Nov 2002 cars.

I pick up my baby on Friday and just over the phone the they did replaced the head the first thing they do is install so some kind of blocks and put it back together and see if the tick goes away if not then pull the head and replace it.
I took delivery of the car at the end of June from Ed Mullinax in Amherst thats in Ohio these guys have been good about the little things well see about this big thing.
I think the Tsb number was TSB 03-11-4
