At the suggestion of Jstas (John) I have added a nice hack to the vB board that will make it easier to browse for you folks on dial-up.
The hack is called THREAD PREVIEW.
How it works is very simple: When you open up a forum, and see all the listed threads, rather then click one to open it so you can see what it is about, all you have to do is pass your mouse over the thread topic link and the first 300 typed characters will display. This will allow you to "preview" the topic s before you click any. Should save a lot of time for dialup users.
This should greatly enhance your browsing pleasure here on the SVTOA forums.
A toast to Jstas for the GREAT suggestion (Wish I had thought of it!!)

i like it, but the text doesn't stay up long enough (i must be a slow reader), would it be possible to extend the time a tiny bit?

That's a Windows timeout... I can't change that... :(
Mouse off, mouse on...
Wax on, Wax off... :D

My only complaint is I wish it would preview the LAST message in a thread instead of the first. In an involved thread, sometimes you just want to see what the last message posted says before you go there. On a new thread, I almost always go and read the 1st post. :wtf: :D ;)

Well, I did what I could... Customer asked for it, Customer got it...
You know if I could help you out, I would, but at least we have what we have, and even with a "fast" connection I like this new feature!!

Ken, not at ALL, did I take what you said in a negative way in the least.
I probably try too hard sometimes, I meant what I said- you know I'd fix you up if I could...
Have a super day, will be out of the office most of the morning...

yeah, no problem i can read all of the text, but when its late at night sometimes i just don't want to waste that much energy reading quickly. i don't have any problems with connection speed so i don't really use the preview anyways.
