Hello everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in virginia. I bought a 03 cobra a couple of months ago. I love it!!! I need to get on the ball and get a CAI and some cat backs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Where in VA do you live? In northern VA is a great Mustang shop called Springfield Motorsports.
If you're in the northern area, keep an eye on our Freestate MD forum. We have a bunch of VA members.

I'm in charlottesville. There is no SVT dealer here in town. The closet is in Richmond. Do you think I should take my car to Richmond to get it serviced at an SVT dealer or do you think that a non-svt ford dealer is capable of doing an oil change without screwing things up?

I think any Ford dealer could do the oil and filter change with no more risk of screwing up than if it were a GT, or even a Taurus.:bash: Depends on the dealer, but for items that are the same as a regular Mustang, it should be ok.

Now, if you Do need some SVT magic done, the SVT dealer in Richmond is Sheehy, the VA location for our sponsoring dealer here in MD. If you'd like, I can get you the name of the SVT contact there, in case you ever need to use them.

Or better yet, come on over to the Central VA Mustang Club's 19th Annual Mustang Show in Richmond on Sept 13. We'll be there with a booth and some of our member's cars, and the SVT Trailer will be there. But of interest to you, is, we're planning on getting some of the people from the Richmond Sheehy SVT Dealer there also. Might be a chance to meet them and see if they are worth driving to Richmond for (I don't know any of that gang, but Sheehy up here has bent over backwards to help some of our members). You can get more info at http://www.centralvamustang.com/

Let me know if we can help you.

Man, I would love to come to the show and show off my cobra, but I'm going to be out of town. I thought I saw some Cobras at Universal ford in richmond. I didnt think they were an SVT dealer. Do you know? Universal is on the west side, so it is a little closer. I guess I'll just take my cobra to Brady-Bushy Ford for the Oil changes.

I don't know the Richmond area well enough (being a northerner), but I'll try and find out about all the dealers while I'm there. Sorry you can't make it, but check out our MD forum from time to time. Charlottesville is only about an hour from the beltway (in a Cobra;) ).

I asked while in Richmond, and was told there were 2 SVT dealers in town (contrary to FOrd's and SVT's overlaping market plans). One is Sheehy, and I don't remember the name of the other one, but it might have been Universal.:wtf:
You can go to SVT's web site and look up SVT Dealers. Its
www.svt.ford.com

There are a couple of dealers in Richmond, Universal Ford and Bill Talley ford (that's where I got mine). I work with Marvin Streat at Bill Talley and he's been really good at giving me advise about the carand is a great resource.
You can go to any Ford place to have the car's oil changed, but I have been told not to let them do much of anything else!! I'm really particular about the car and worry about voiding the warrenty, or having someone who thinks he knows about cobras.
Unfortunetly, there aren't any SVT clubs in Richmond or this side of the state, the closest is Roanoke. (I am having trouble contacting them). I am a member of Central Va's Mustang Club that meets at the science museum of Va the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm in Richmond It's a pretty good club, but they are more concentrated on the older cars. sigh. The last event that I attended was the Myrtle Beach sea cruise and was a SVT event. It was a blast.
Hope this helps some.............

Thanks Trauma alert. I just went ahead and changed the oil myself. I feel more comfortable knowing what I do to the car. I thought I saw a couple of cobras on Universals lot. I think I'll bring them there for the bigger work. It is closer to me. Have you made any modifications to your Cobra? All I have done is replace the stock air filter for a K&N. I bet the Myrtle Beach cruise was fun. Did you ride to Rockingham? Drive safe I dont want to hear a trauma alert for you hear at UVA :)

The Myrtle Beach Cruise was a blast, yes we went to Rockingham to race, a lot of rubber was left on the track that day. We had a great time racing without cops around LOL
I haven't made any modifications, yet. I am looking at putting a borla exhaust on the car.
I hope I won't have to go to UVA as a trauma alert, but the taf fits. Actually I would request to go to the ER that I work in.

Have you heard anything about bassini exhaust? Everyone seems to think that is the best, but I dont know. Here is a link with mpegs on how they all sound http://ubb.mustangexhaust.com/
:cbra:
what er do you work in?

Bassini's are expensive, but they're stainless steel and last a long time. Not as important if your car isn't a daily driver.
There's more to an exhaust than sound and longevity. They can have different power producing capabilities, which may or may not matter depending on what you want your car to do.
You can do a search on this forum or SCOA's web site, and get opinions about every exhaust system made. All of them are touted as the best by someone. I currently have a Dynamax, because of it's torque capabilities.
Good luck.
