Did any of you get a baseline run on a dyno before you modified your L's ? I ran mine up at Kenny Brown Performance and was shocked. I guess I'm wondering what is about normal for a stock 02. Maybe Ford is under-rating this engine?? :D

Most people I have seen run a stock Lightning on a dyno are getting numbers well over what stock power should be at the wheels if you go by manufacturer rating.
Also, you can see it at the track. Stock Lightnings have been running 13.6's all the way down to a few 13.2's that I have heard of. That is a considerable difference from the 14.0-13.9 rated by the factory. That right there shows a significant power difference over rated power.
What were your numbers?

Well, I pulled 348.8 hp and 416 lb/ft at the rear wheels. There was another L there that day. He had headers, a 4 lb. pulley, a chip, cold air induction, and he pulled 377 hp and 465 lb/ft. It sounded like he had some money and time sunk into his, and it only gave him an extra 29 hp. I was figuring that mine ought to make a little over 300. Maybe there is something to that "buy one that's built on a wednesday" stuff...

He may have on 29 more horses at the wheels but he has considerable more torqure. Also, keep in mind that the more boost you push, the more parasitic loss you will experience from having to turn the supercharger. It will make more sense if you think of torque as work being done over a distance or at least the capacity to do that work. Horsepower is a derivative of torque and a measure how fast that work can get done over that distance. Kind of simplistic but you get the idea.

the underrated part falls into the "promise less deliver more" category. If it turned less than advertised, folks would be complaining, right?:p
Oh,and my stock 2000 showed 349hp and 428tq.42000 miles.

Just for a comparision. I had my 03 l dyno'ed the other day. I have a 5# pulley, chip and cold air kit. The truck made 394hp and 510tq, after driving it to the shop on a 93 degree day, and going straight onto the machine.

WOW ALL OF YOU GUYS HAVE ALOT OF POWER !! DO ALL OF YOU STILL HAVE WARRANTIES ?
MY LIGHTING IS AT THE SHOP AND THE SVT REP TOLD ME THEY JUST GOT A LETTER FROM FORD THAT SAYS THAT THEY CANT WORK ON MODIFIED CARS . HE SAID THAT THEY WERE VOID!!
THATS THE ONLY BAD THING I SEE ABOUT MODDING MY TRUCK NOT TO MENTION EXTENDED WARRANTY.:bash:  :jawdrop:

My L is still stock, so I hope that the warranty still applies. ;)
One of the local techs at Ford told me that it depends on what it is that you've done to it. I told him I was thinking about modding it a little bit, but I didn't want to void the warranty. He said that if you're a good customer( I've bought my last 3 there) they can, and have, lied to Ford about warranty repairs."It's no big deal." I wasn't sure how to take it. Kinda cool on one hand, but on the other....

Good question what kind of dyno was it? (Dynojet, superflow, mustang...)
On a superflow with 1500 miles, my stock 03 pulled 352rwhp and 417rwtq. Superflow numbers tend to be smaller than dynojets as well. (Haven't found a conversion yet that works to dynojet #'s)
As far as warranty info, I was told as long as I don't touch the computer, pullies, or inside of the engine I can do pretty much whatever (intake & exhaust basically).
Also any FMS part I was told would be warranteed, but I've also heard they won't be:huh:

I believe it was a Dynojet. I have the printouts at home. I should post some pictures of them.
