This is totally insane! I hope you're ready to hear this crazy story.
When I first got my car I plugged my radar detector into the extra outlet on the passenger side of the car. The one on the center console. If that is considered a center console. I wraped the cord around the passenger side of the car so it's hidden (it looks real slick). Anyway, When I turned off the engine I would have to manually turn off the power on this electronic device. Then, when I started the car, I would just turn it back on. If I left it on overnight or whenever the car was off it would just sit on my windshield attempting to detect a radar signal. And when I started the car it would just remain on.
Ok, now I have a different scenario. When I turn off the car it turns off automatically! It then proceeds to turn on automatically when I start the car! I actually like this way better because I don't have to turn it off at all. It just started doing this like a week ago.
