I've been outa the loop for a few weeks- has anything surfaced about the rumored SVT 10th anniversary Cobra?
Thanks,

Here's the latest:
FORD SVT HITS THE STREET WITH TWO SPECIAL EDITION MODELS
2002 SEMA
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 5, 2002 – Marking 10 years as the leader in factory performance products, Ford unveiled the SVT Mustang Cobra 10th Anniversary Package and the SVT European Appearance Package, two hot new feature editions for 2003.
“SVT is celebrating its 10th year in the performance vehicle business, and what better way to commemorate the anniversary than sharing with our customers two special edition vehicles,” said Mike Zevalkink, Ford Performance Group director.
The SVT Mustang Cobra, which began production in 1993, celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a special edition package. During the past 10 years, more than 100,000 SVT vehicles have been produced, 60 percent of which have been SVT Mustang Cobras.
The 10th Anniversary Package will be available as either a coupe or convertible, and features unique 17x9-inch dark argent painted anniversary wheels, red leather seating surfaces in the front and rear, interior trim with the appearance of carbon fiber, red painted brake calipers, and SVT 10th Anniversary badges on the floor mats and rear decklid.
SVT will produce 2,003 units of the Anniversary model, which will be available in Torch Red, Black Clearcoat, and Silver Metallic. Production is slated to begin next summer.
“Our SVT Mustang Cobra owners are some of the most loyal customers anywhere, and we are proud to share this anniversary milestone with them,” said Tom Scarpello, marketing and sales manager, Ford SVT. “The Cobra name has been synonymous with Ford performance for 40 years – and with SVT for the last 10 years. We are proud to carry the torch for this performance icon.”
The second special-edition vehicle is a new SVT Focus European Appearance Package. “The Ford Focus has best-in-class driving dynamics and a European flavor. The SVT Focus European Appearance Package takes it to a new level, creating the best equipped, most exciting production Focus yet,” says Scarpello.
The package, offered exclusively on the 3-door model, features an upscale interior with European flair, including black leather-trimmed front RecaroTM sport seats with matching leather door panel inserts and rear seating surfaces. The exterior is accented by 17x7-inch, multi-spoke, dark argent wheels similar to those offered on the European “ST170” and two new exclusive colors, Screaming Yellow and Competition Orange. The European Appearance Package also is available in the standard SVT Focus color palette including Vermillion Red, CD Silver, and Pitch Black.
The European Appearance Package includes every optional content package available on the SVT Focus. Features include: the 290-watt Audiophile Stereo System which includes a six-disc, in-dash CD player, premium speakers, and eight-inch subwoofer; the Winter Package which includes traction control, heated front seats, and an engine block heater; a power sunroof; and high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps. This is the first application of HID technology on a SVT vehicle.
The European Appearance Package will be available in spring 2003.
Ford SVT history
The Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) was established in 1991 to “polish the Ford oval,” by creating low-volume, factory-produced vehicles designed for those whose idea of driving is a high-powered, passionate experience – not just a means of getting from point A to point B.
In a move to support this spirited enthusiasm, Ford Motor Company carefully integrated the wide array of talent in the company into a small, cross-functional group of engineers, product planners and marketing people, housed together under one roof with a common mission – to create vehicles specifically designed to meet the unique needs and desires of the knowledgeable driving enthusiast.
Each SVT vehicle produced since the 1993 model year has been designed and developed with the four SVT Hallmarks in mind: Performance, Substance, Exclusivity and Value. These hallmarks have driven the SVT Mustang Cobra and Cobra R, the SVT F-150 Lightning, the SVT Contour and the SVT Focus.

Yeah, I just read about that this morning!
Good timing, eh?
Y'know, I think their choice of color options leaves something to be desired (like any BLUE, or MYSTIC color).
I was hoping for a Sonic Blue anniv. pkg. Oh well, guess I'll stick with the Base model.
Another article that caught my eye was one about the 5.0 Cammer. Could this be the next Cobra engine?
Thanks BlueOvalBolt,

Ok, where did you get the pic, and when do I get to see more of them?
Specifically, what do the badges / other anniversary stuff look like?
I like the look of the red interior w/ red car, but not too sure how it would look on a black car / silver car.
Not sure if I like the wheels either, but at least they are distinct from the "base" cobra.
Thanks for the pic, it's going on my desktop (for now),

It was at a show that featured some of the newer pre-production prototypes....SEMA 2002

Don't know much about the badging, etc, but if I should run across any more pics, I'll be sure and update it here for you. :)

I have mixed emotions about another Mystic. There's something about driving 1 of 2000 of something *ever* made. But a 10th anniv. Mystic would have been a nice touch.

That red interior would look pretty bad in a blue or mystic Cobra.. Red/red and black/red would be OK - I am going to have to wait and see what the silver looks like with a red interior.... :wtf:

Yeah, I can understand that. I would hope it would be acceptable if they changed the Mystic color scheme. Y'know, something besides purple & green. That combo never sat well with me- reminded me too much of The Joker (ala Batman).
Anyhow, it isn't happening, so no sense worryin' or wonderin'!

i dont know about the whole colored leather seat. kind of looks like something some import car would have in it. and the rims got to go. they look like some bmw rip-off, otherwise, the emblems look ok

Just a qwik note,
as a previous Mystic owner these beautiful cars
were actually a little over 3,000 produced
vs 2000. That includes a few that Saleen rcvd from
Ford, cant remember the exact # around 3,015
I think. Your SVT certificate should tell you.:cbra:

I've got to say, that's the very first I've heard that. My SVT letter says 2000, I have heard 1999. The "Horse of a Different Color" Saleen is not included in that number. Do you have a source for the 3015 number?

I agree. I had HID in my Acura TL and I loved them. Only thing is no fog lamp can match the HID color, they all look yellowish or a weak white or blueish tone. Also HID is so powerful it renders the fog lamps useless.

Elimination of the fog lamps would leave a convenient place for the ram air intakes. The only issue would be that you would periodically have to remove the rice that would get sucked up. :)

I'm sure the fog lights could be replaced with cooling ducts for the front brakes as long as HID lamps are going to be used... Otherwise there are a brand of HID fogs available... I think Phillips has a line called "Xenarc" or something like that... They look pretty close to the HID's... I also did some research at the Hella site... They make HID fogs too, but these are quite pricy $$$.. Anyway, HID's need to be included in the next Cobra...
