I'm new here, so I apologize if this has already been discussed. I get a lot of chatter in 1st and 2nd gear under light loads, as in driving down a driveway. It is not noticeable when the car is cold, but becomes very loud when warmed up, especially after I replaced the stock shifter with a Steeda. The dealer says that this is normal for this transmission. Any others have this problem? I was thinking of trying a new clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster to see if engagement is the problem.

Thanks!

i noticed quite a bit more noise coming from the shifter area after i had the steeda installed, especially when in gear and the clutch disengaged

I expected the increased transmission noise, since the Steeda doesn't have the rubber isolation bushing like the stock shifter. I cured most of this noise with some aircraft soundproofing material placed on top of the rubber shift boot. Now the general noise is less than before, but the chatter is more noticeable since it transmits through the shifter.

The dealer told me that this is a T56 thing, and that other cars with the t56 such as the Viper have the same noise. I don't know whether to accept this or not. To me, any mechanical grinding noise sounds like a problem.

My convertible has only about 1600 miles on it, but so far I have no weird noises/chatters. Is this something I have to look forward to?
