Very, Very nice!
Just curious why you went with Vortec? Did you consider others?
I am looking at the Vortec and the ATI..
Do you happen to have a shot of the trunk mounted battery?
Great Job!

basically what i've heard from people is that the ATI kit was not the same build quality and not as complete as the vortech kit. also installation on the ATI i was told is not as easy as the vortech. i prefer water to air intercoolers, put some ice water in for drag racing. there are also other reasons such as noise, the SQ STrim is supposed to be relitively quiet. i don't have a picture of the battery, but i will post one shortly for you.

What did that system run if I may ask? Also, what did install hit you for? :fryem:

The vortech kit with s-trim blower and aftercooler was about 4800 (discounted), but i purchased a little basket of other goodies along with the kit and had the shop install them. labor was about 2500 total for the everything (vortech kit, bigger injectors, maf, plugs, battery relocated (still working on posting pics), trex pump, intank pump, gauges, subframes, g-load brace).

I expected to see a car with a big rin on his face smoking a cigarette or something...just kidding.
Actually your sig mentions the strengthened top end, this was included in the kit?

Looks realy nice great installation, have you had the car dynoed I would say it turned out some very high numbers.

no it wasnt with the kit. i was planning on beefing up the internals, but not so quickly... one of the 48# injectors was stuck open from the factory, so didnt want to risk having a bent rod, so just sent the car off to get the next thing on my list done...

Yeah, i couldn't have it dynotuned because the new pistons and rods were not broken in yet. i got almost 700 miles on them now though, so whenever the local shop has time, i'll be able to post the dynos.

I know that it seems like you added all of these things at once, but i have question about the after-cooler. What exactly does it do and did it improve performance....i saw them on a web site for sale JL performance........and was curious if they would be a good investment down the road for my L. Thanks, Jimmy

aftercooler is the same thing as an intercooler, just a the term vortech uses for them. they say that technically intercoolers go between compressors, so since its not between, its after... i think... cools the charge air after compression... compression heats the air up a lot, cooler air is denser, same volume of more dense air = more air (oxygen)... helps prevent detenation too... so you can run more boost...

Looks like you're getting a lot of questions. I have another ... where did you get your gauges from? My wife just bought me a blower as a wedding gift, and I still need to purchase the gauges. I've been told Auto Meter has them, and in your picture, it looks like that's what you have. Anything in particular I should order? Thanks.

no problem. yeah the pod is autometer and the gauges are too. the fuel pressure is electrical. heres the statement, i can get more specifics on the "add'l fittings" if you need them.

ATM5703 Phantom 2-1/16" Mechanical Boost:Boost 30 in Hg.-Vac./30 PSI ~$50
ATM5763 Phantom 2-1/16" FULL SWEEP Electric Fuel Pressure, 0 - 100 psi ~$190
N0516785 1/16NPT Male to 1/8NPT Fem. ~$10
AMMisc Add'l fittings for fuel pressure sender ~$10

I was considering purchasing a supercharger but i was afraid of putting too much on my engine. I want to go with the v-2 sq without the aftercooler. If I go with this do i still have to do internal engine mods i.e. rods etc. What does the car feel like after you installed the supercharger? Was it worth the money?

nope you don't have to do the internals, its just how much power you want to make. since one of the injectors (see above post) might have bent one of the rods i decided to get the beefyer internals so i could go past 500rwhp (470rwhp right now). the car drives nice :D i'll post some videos of it when i get home.
