We talked about this at the meeting today, and it is not to early to start! Lets see how many people we can get interested in doing an On Track Event at Carolina Motorsports Park in the Spring of 2004!

You will have two days on track in a High Performance Driving School!

Lets see how many replys we can get and lets start the ball rolling!

Come on Carolinas Crew... talk this event up and get some support rolling as soon as possible. If we want to have an event there in 2004, we need to get this ball rolling NOW! CMP is a very popular track and the "good" weekend dates go very quickly...

I'd LOVE to come down and put on one of our "On Track" events for y'all!!

See y'all on track!

Jeff,

Happy to see you could help make this thing a big success.

We discussed it at our last board meeting and the support was strong. I'll make sure we check with you before we set a firm date so we make it work with your schedule.

Hopefully more people will see this and we'll get interest from other chapters as well.

Thanks again,

Dave

What dates are available?

Tom,or Stanger have you inquired about dates available?

How about weekend closest to March 17th?

I am closed then.Day off already.

Looks like this event is likely to happen. From the phone calls I have gotten just this week about it, there is a lot of interest in this event! I will be putting a call in to CMP tomorrow to inquire about available dates for the event, right now it looks like a lot of interest around March 17th or the middle of April. I will let you know what is available after I talk to them. From what I hear the National SVTOA is very interested! If someone could send me the info on who to talk to at the National Club Level, I would be glad to give them a call and start to coordinate the stuf that needs to be coordinated!

Im all up for trying to put together a weekend at CMP next spring. I also believe that national may have some interest in the event as well(Nice to see Jeff Lacina is checking out the boards), I think it would be great for Jeff to come do the driving school for such an event. Put the word out and lets see where we can go

Talked with Micky Clyburn at CMP today and the choice of event dates are:

#1 Feb 21-22 2004 best shot at getting this date

#2 Middle of March if one of the other clubs decides not to do their event next year

#3 Easter Weekend in April - not to good!

#4 Mothers Day weekend in May - now Mom would love that!

Looks like Feb 21-22 are the best bet, Let me know your thoughts!

And lets go Racing!!:bna

Let's see if we can get Jeff to commit to one of those dates and let it rip!

The dates are not for me to decide guys... you need to get Gene Pavliscsak involved PRONTO... these events are "Regional" based, so we need to look at ALL the events going on within the region (or across the country with regards to On Track events) to make sure we don't have any overlapping or too many back-to-back event weekends.

Contact: Gene Pavliscsak (SE Regional Director) at gpavlisc@tampabay.rr.com or Joanne Schultz in the National office at jschultz@svtoa.com .

Personally, Kershaw in Feb... sounds fine to me!

See you on track! :bna :tmb: :bna

Jeff,
Gene is the SOUTH region director. We don't have a regional director. But I know Joanne can do anything!
Thanks

I know Chuck knows this, but for those that may not,

National definded our region as SC, NC, VA and MD.

Talked to Joanne at SVTOA today and she said we need to get another chapter in our region involved with this on track event. She is emailing all of the information about what we need to do to get this event setup as a regional event! She also said we need to have something else set up to do as a "lifestyle" event to go along with the on track experience. I suggested eating! She laughed and said a barbecue or something along that order would work. I thought being On Track for 2 Days would be the big draw!!

As I get more info, I will post it, and have a report and copies for the next meeting!

I think that we have another option on the event. We can do the event in the same manner as the SC Mustang Cobra club did an get instuctors from NASA and make it an open event. That way what ever monies the club might make are ours. Also it would give us more control over the event, I think that we can get the NASA instuctors for track time.

Feburary is good the blowers love cold air.:bna

tomsgarage

Beerkat, that may be an option. I talked to Gary today (Lead Instructor at CMP when we went to the SVT Cobra Club event) and he said we should not have a problem getting the same instructors we had there. He said they come and do it to get the track time, no charge for their services! The only issue we may ahve on this is insurance for the event, but we will find out more as we go along. I still have not received the info from Joanne at SVTOA headquarters, but it should come soon. Will keep you all up to date!

Again, thanks for putting up with my Marine last week. He and my other son Ryan had a great time! And from what I hear, you all did to!!! ;)

Thats what this club is about, fast friends!!!!

This really sounds like a good time. Couont me in if you need to take a head count. We need to discuss how much it will cost, and the exact dates and times. Plus all of the event features, so I can start working on a good webpage to display beginning in November.

Ok everybody, looks like we have got a lot of interest about an On Track Event!

Sometime after Labor Day I will be heading over to CMP to get exact cost figures and to look at their contract for the event and forward it to SVTOA Headquarters.

SVTOA says in their On Track Events that they sponsor at the Regional Level should have at least room for 100 participants if I am reading it correctly. We may want to do this event as SCSVTOA only and limit it to about 40 cars and trucks on track. This would give everyone plenty of track time and we could open it up to Non Ford products!

Theres nothing like tracking down and passing 2 Z06 Corvettes and a Viper on the back straight at CMP just before the kink doing about 130MPH!

Let me know your thoughts!

The adrenaline is flowing, allthough, I don't know how many Z06 Vettes I'll be passing. I'd just like to make it around the track in one piece. :p

I am all for beating the Generals junk and the slopars.

However if it has anything to do with Svtoa or SCSVTOA ,they can not be there due to insurance if nothing else.

It would be great if we could some how secure the dates before someone else does,:haha:

I think that we need to have around 60 to 70 entries to made it work. You would have three maybe four run groups and then one for the Instructors. As for insurance everybody carries their own. This is a driving school and not a race. If we need a sponsor then let BB ford do it. This is to raise money for our club and to have a great time. It is not about SVTOA. It should be an open event it is the only way to get enouogh people.

I would have to agree with Beerkat. I think an Open Event would work wonders for everybody. Then we could have the General's attend the Driving school, and show them just how educated us Ford owners are, or will be for that matter. :p Anyway, it really sounds like it would be a great time, and I know that I could use some edumacation on how to drive my Cobra a bit faster.:)

Beerkat,

It's not NASA that's doing the instruction at our event although some of the instructors drive in NASA events. SCMC and NASA currently have no agreement for instructors at SCMC events. Some of our instructors are our own members and others are recruited from different sources to make the event run smoothly. In 2004, we will have more instructors available and a "special" discount for members and participants that attended in 2003 so look for your SCMC notice to come sometime before the end of the year.

Hope you all can make it. :spinem:
