I would like to know, has anyone had a 99 cobras computer reflashed?I just had this done at the dealer per the recall on hp issues.I replaced all of the parts myself and noticed no chang in the running of the car however once I had the computer reprogrammed this damn thing flys!! What did this programming do to the car? What did it change?

Presume you are talking about the "Fix" that all the 1999s received where they changed the lower intake manifold and mufflers, and then reflashed the computer. I too noticed a significant increase in power after the fix, but mine was done all at once. So I can't tell what part of the power increase was due to the reflash.
Must have recurved the spark advance and rescheduled fuel metering.

I was surprised to find out there is a lot that can be done with the stock computer program. Our local SVTOA group had a dyno-tune event a few months back where the guy from Ford that wrote the 03 Cobra program came out and did a custom dyno-based tune reflash on everyones Cobras and Lightnings over a 2 day period. This included adjusting for gears and several other after market mods. It made a huge difference.

Do you think this guy wants to come to Canada and 'fix' our chips?

I know my Cobra had the performance recall, but I am not sure about the computer chip - is there any way to find out?

All I know and remember is that after the fix.....
Third gear chirps were attainable. Also, cars that didn't get the reflash still had low power.
The main increase in power was the replacement of the restrictive mufflers, intake, and reflash. They also installed a new belt tensioner.
It would have been nice to dyno each part seperately to know what was the cause of the low power.
I have a new intake that I'm playing with, and those even need some cleaning/ploshing.
