hello everyone....
i picked up my '03 cobra (black coupe) 10th anniversary edition this morning (pics coming this weekend). still getting used to driving her and getting used to using my left leg while driving (my 1st standard vehicle).
anyhow... when i picked it up the salesman asked me if i wanted to have a bracket installed on the front bumper or not. i decided not to, and they had to order a bracket anyways.. my question...
anyone have any problems with the police in the GTA about not having a front plate? or having it on the front dashboard?
thx

It really depends on the officer. I know some folks who had been ticketed for not having it on. Others have gotten away with it.
Gotta keep this in mind: How do you drive? In these times of PACER and ERASER (or whatever you want to call it), they may go after anything "sporty". If it's a slow day, they might give you a hassle.
Since the part is on order, you do know that Ford sometimes have parts on backorder...sometimes for a while. Oops..must wait for part to come in, but need to get around in front, plateless car. But at least plate is visible from front on dash *wink wink* ;)

that is exactly what i was thinking... "but officer, it is on backorder from ford for 6 months." :)
but i only hope i dont run into too many officers who are having a slow or bad day :) thats the last thing i want to worry about.
thanks for the insight.

If you look back a few weeks, you'll see my post 'bout getting stopped for no front plate. I don't live in T.O., so you may feel different but, I ended up installing my front plate. The cop let me off with a warning. But being from a small town like North Bay, I figured my time had run out. ('bout a yr) Didn't feel like giving the gov't another $105.
Good luck and congrats on the new Cobra.:tmb: :)

I had my front licence plate off my car so I could paint the holder for 2 days and I got stopped and ticketed $110.00. But I had 48 hours to go to the Police station and prove I had put it back on. The only thing is that I am now in their system and they won't give me the break next time. Not that there will be one but still a pain in the butt. I think it is just a chance you take and the cops mood at the time.

I've also had the pleasure of getting a ticket for not having the front plate on.
Needless to say, it's now on

Failing to display 2 plates is unfortunately something they are looking for. Yup; the ticket is $90 plus victim surcharge bringing it up to $110. I guess the only good thing is you don't lose points but, it is still a conviction on your record. The way insurance companies are these days I wouldn't want it on my record.

I've only had problems over the years with the O.P.P.
They seem to be the only cops who notice these things.
Never a ticket, but it was a hassle being pulled over all the time.
I just put the plate on the front now, and enjoy the hassle-free ride.

Yes bro, i got hassled like crazy...almost every second day i
would get a warning (of course they want to ask you all kinds
of questions about the monster snake).
I was doing alright, telling them the bracket was on back-order
from Michigan, until i got pulled over again by a cop that had
warned me 2 months previous....
He let me off with a severe warning this time and then i just
thought screw it!! I seen a thread by "Justice" about his idea
and it really helped me out (he's on this thread).
Looks great, feels great, and no drilling into bumper! :bna

Well I was doing fine since July 02. But then I had the bright idea of heading to Toronto... Got pulled over for doing 101 in an 80.......on the 401!! And for no front plate. He gave me a choice so I picked the plate ticket... It was cheaper and no points. I've used the "backorder because it's an SVT" story once before in T.O. and it worked. Living in Ottawa helps because Quebec is so close they don't really take notice to the front plates but with no plate and no DRL's I'm just asking for it!!
