This was great. SVT engineers actually lease all their space from Roush. I kinda got the impression that Roush is Ford, and Ford Performance is Roush. Here the SVT powertrain engineers talk about the Cobra, Lightning, and Focus

The Focus engineers discuss their CAD programing on modifying the Focus suspension

I thought this was interesting. It's a T56 transmision set up for paddle shift operation. Note the lack of a shifter. Ford borrowed some technology from the Aston-Martin Vanguish and are working on the possibility of a automatic shifting manual trans.

In the past few weeks Roush has assembled five GT40s. Here is a pic of one, three were made for the 100th Celebration, and another as a test mule. BTW, that's fellow windy city member "Fafoey" on the left.

And the three assembled for the 100th. I took a pic of the 5th at Roush which is labled #8 on the hood, but it was too dark to post.

This is the oil pan on the GT40. Notice how the oil pump is actually built into the pan, which eliminates the use of a sump and oil pick-up tube. This is not a 5.4 truck engine with a blower on it:rolleyes:

Well even though the GT40 hasn't come out out yet, here is the GT90 concept. Kinda looks like Roush's version of the Saleen S7.

Want boost? This bad boy has four turbos on it.

Well this Boss 429 SN95 has been around for quite a few years now. I've heard them start it up a few times too. But never did I see anyone get behind the wheel and take a few burnout passes in parking lot before with it. It sounded awesome.

A couple years ago SVT completed all the engineering needed for job1 on a Cougar Eliminator. The Mercury division axed the idea, would've been one hell of a car. Thats a roots supercharged version of the SVT Contour engine under the hood with 300HP/300 ft lb torque

Speaking of SVT Contours, this is a Roush employee's vehicle.

Here's a pic of one of the first '03 Cobra prototypes. SVT Engineering had put this through a 8 hour endurance test using the PI data monitoring system. Here they could tell exactly how much time was spent in each gear, how many times the trans was shifted, and what percentage was the car operated at full throttle (47% of the time in this instance). There are over 36 remotely monitored sensors wired into it measuring temperature, pressures, throttle position & etc. Instead of crushing it when finished, they addresed a few issues they had with the car and installed a 2KR front air dam and rear spoiler so it could be used as a high speed test trainer. There's no 155mph limiter on this car:eek:

Here's what the system looks like from inside the car.

Great pictures, and nice info on each one as well! Thanks for sharing for those of us too far away to just 'drop by' and see it for ourselves:tmb:
