Has anyone had a problem with this part going bad? I'm having a problem with my idle staying real high between shifts and when I come to a stop. It sets around 2500 to 3000 rpm. I can force it down by lugging the motor, letting the clutch out a little with the brake on, and it will stay at about 1200 until I give it gas again, still too high..:wtf:

I've checked for vacuum leaks or unmetered air from the tb tube but everything is tight. I tried removing the IAC and spraying it with carb cleaner, but it looked pretty black inside like carbon almost. I'm just wondering if this a common problem on the 99/01 Cobras?

Just to follow up, I replaced the IAC valve, a $57 ford part, and it fixed the idle problem.

I've been reading that this part is especially problematic if you have a CAI or K&N as it tends to collect minute particles allowed into the intake and develops a carbon like build-up. I have about 30,000 miles and mine went. Sometimes you can clean it with carb or brake cleaner, but mine was pretty corroded. If this part is cleaned regularly and lubed with WD-40 there is no problem.

Just being friendly and saying that WD-40 is a penatrating lubricant ( use it for rusty bolt etc but not for lubrication ) that evaporates and I personaly would not use it as a lub. There are many products out there to use, something that is a quick drying dry lubricant.
