I took my Cobra into Heller Ford today to not only document the "Tick" but to fix a strange problem. The air blader for the lubar support inflates the back of my seat! I could hear the pumps going and never noticed any difference in the lumbar area. The other day I folded the seat down to let my kids in, and there was this HUGE Bulge behind the drivers seat. The air blader was facing the wrong way. I think this is the first time I've ever heard of this problem.....LOL

Sounds like a blatter control problem to me.

That's called a hernia. Hope the surgery goes well.

Before I knew anything about the TSB for ticking I had taken my Cobra in for the tick. I got the same as most. Injectors. Ignore it.

Today I took it back in and had them look up the TSB. That tied their hands. They had to at least have a mechanic check it. Sure enough. They found it and couldn't get rid of it by disabling the injectors.

They are calling Ford on Monday to check on the next step.

The mechanic thinks they will send out a new head. I hate to see them bust apart the engine. What do you do?

BTW...
They already had to replace the throw out bearing for awful squealing. Have you ever heard of a maximum dollar amount iimposed by Ford that they can spend on a car? The guy said something about $3900 max.

$3900.00 had better not be the limit, because I have already had my tranny, throw out bearing, drive shaft, and rear end replaced as of now. I am just putting up with the damn tick right now, because I hate the wait to get the replacement parts and the fact the engine is going to be takin apart. By the way, how can Ford say that by replacing a left head assembly, it won't effect the HP of the motor, or cause unevenness in the motor with established mileage of the engine? I like that one answered by anybody, maybe I am wrong in this assumption.

I haven't taken it in because I didn't know if it was normal for it to do that ( Ford Quality) , Ha,Ha ! As long as the car doesn't fall apart on me after 36,000 I'm O.K. with the quirks ( see my post on strange noises ). Every guy in our local Cobra club/SVT club has the same kinds of noises, quirks in their car so I'm learning to accept it.

Great! Everyone else hears noises. Now I don't feel so bad.

jpreston- what month was your cobra built?

Hey now mine's doing it too. I could swear it worked before. You don't suppose mashing the gas has anything to do with forcing it out of where it belongs do ya?

Well after two weeks I called the dealership and they back pedaled and said that they couldn't prove that the noise they heard in the head was not normal for the cobra engine.

They agreed to set my car next to a newer demo vert and compare engine sounds. I must say that the newer car was making even more noise than mine.

I'm still skeptical since they didn't use a scope or cancel the injectors on the demo the way they did on mine.

At this point it is fully documented and I am tired of dealing with being treated like I'm over-reacting to a non-existent issue. I'm just going to drive it.

The oddest thing about this car is the harder and faster you drive it the smoother and more manageable it gets. A mild throttle and early shifting results in all sorts of interesting noise and a bumpy forceful ride. Yet hammering the thing gets you steady, properly loaded suspension and a drive train free of (or drowned out) noise.

I promised myself I wouldn't drive this car like a freak all the time, but man its tough. The car is designed for it.

Your not driving like a freek just because you USE the power.
I found that by letting the engine finish the rpm's to speed it just love's it. My car can be so smooth it's amazing.

I don't really think we bought DAILY drivers per say.
