Hey guys the more I think about it the more it bothers me. Today we had a great event. Guys driving some good distances to make our SVTOA meeting. It was to be a show and shine. I paid my money for the event and the Cars and Trucks were not even Judged!!!!!!!!! I love the the community of guys and gals I've met but I had to beg my wife so I could go and the highlight of the event was not the event at all. I had to get this off my chest and I hope this never happens again. Sorry to be so negative but there were others who put alot of work in there Black 01 Lightning to get it ready for the show and it never got a second look.

I think that you point is valid. I know nothing about show and shines, but I do know that it takes a lot of time, effort, and TLC to get your car/truck ready. I do not know why they were not judged. I was under the impression that part of the reason for the show was to help us learn what it takes to do a show. So in that vain I learned nothing about what judges look when awarding points.
On the other side of the coin. My wife and I had a great time, with a great group of people and look forward to the June 7 drive in at Bob Bennette.

Woody your point was addressed before we hit the road to leave. As activity director I'll take the blame. I was asked at last minute to judge and hand out awards.Even though it may have been obvious who would have won. I had the dirtiest, Beer kat had the winning focus (the only one) I think 4 brand new Cobras, And a brand new Lightning. I was not prepared to make a call.We will spell it out before next time. Thanks for speaking. Your involvement is as well as the others is what keeps me going.I don't know how to score but I will make a point to find some one.Any takers? I cn't wait to see you and Jim and D' on the 1/4. 2 cents Chuck:wtf:

Like I said I hate being negative! Especialy when YOU are the one who got me into loving this recreation. I have met alot of great people and I concider you and many other Lightning/SVT owners some of my colsest friends. I was just disappointed. However I get upset then it is over with me I have never been the person to hold a grudge. I love the guys and gals that have got this all togather and hang out with us. WE are a great community of folks that I enjoy seeing and beig around. So with that said I hope I did not offend anyone. I appreciate all of your hard work to get just one meeting going much less a chapter started. Thanks to all who have made this owners assoation a reality, Your all doing a fine job and we are learning as we go. Again I'm sorry if I offended anyone. :tmb:

So Chuck where do we get the information we need to judge the cars and trucks? I hope that we can do another show and shine before Sept. even it is only a practice one with no awards.

Hey Chuck,
Just read your email and I do not think that any refunds or free entee in to another Show and Shine is necessary. I entry the show to support the club, not ot win an award. I could be wrong but I think that is the way most of us who came feel also. It was a great time. :bna :spinem:

I think there are different formats.I shared one with Jim that I scarfed up from the San Diego Chapter. There is also a Mustang Club of America format...I think we should define show and shine with CARSHOW and maybe a cruise in. But above all I had a most enjoyable time hanging out with all that came. See you June 7 at Bob Bennett..........:p :tmb: PS on a personal note I don,t want to judge anyone or thier ride although judges can tell you where you stand from a competition stand point.

Oh and there is always peoples choice which is probably what we should have done. Later Chuck

If I can throw my 2 cents in I would like to add a comment about the Show and Shine in May 2003. After several e-mails and a lot of head banging, the basic reason that I feel this event did not turn out the way it could have is because of the Lack Of Participation. I was really expecting to see a lot more people and cars at the event. I keep asking myself, how can you judge and award prizes or certificates to anyone, when only 10 cars showed up. You should be me. All the planning, foot work, telephone calls, and e-mails. I feel that the event was successful in it's own right, but we are really lacking in the participation department. I know we have a lot more members than that. A big thanks to all you folks who came to the event. Hopefully, we will have a better showing at the next event/meeting......Danno

You are 100% right in what you said Danno, the picnic and the meeting were all that one could hope for. It was great to see how many families came. You and Linda did a great job putting together the event, the park was a great place to hold the meeting. I too was surprised at the lack of vehicles that showed up for the Show and Shine.I agree that there no point to give an award or recognition when there is little or no competition in a class/group. Chuck's idea of a People Choice Award is a good one.

I think that part of the reason that we do not get the more participation in are club is that we do not work the forums as we should. Most of the communication is done with email and not the forum boards. This thread is probable one of the better threads we have had. :tmb:

Email is great for the board of directors business, but I truly beleive that we need to use the forum for every thing else. An active forum is a sign of an active club. IMO

You may be right. I have been up to the board sevearl times, but I do not see the activity that there should be. It seems that it is always the same few people who do any forum communications.
How do we get our members to become more active in their participation? Anyone have any clues or hints? I have been trying to activley work the website, to keep people informed. I am going to post a link to this forum in the next day or 2 so people can just click a link to come in and read. I really don't know what else to do. Without participation, the club will just diminish into nothing. Please accept my apologies for being so negative, but I have seen it all to many times before. The intentions are good, but the willingness to make it work is not there. I hope everyone can prove me wrong.......Danno

I think that we our headed in the right direction with the pinic and show and shines. I think that we need to do more event type stuff to get people to come. I also think that the cost of the activies needs to be minimal. I would like to hear what some of our other members have to say.
