It is almost here.

The Spring Thunder in The Southwest SVTOA on track event at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is only 1 week away.

Friday, May 9th will be the Ford Centennial celebration in Tulsa. Ford is renting one side of the Admiral Twin for Ford people. The first 250 that come at 6pm for a "Show and Shine" will be treated to dinner by Back Yard Burger. The Drive In will be showing Bullet and Anger Management and all Fords will get in free.

SVT will be there look for the blue tent.

The on track begins at 7am on Saturday with Tech inspection.

Cost is 225 for weekend which includes dinner on Sat night. One day on track time can be bought for $125 per day and does not include dinner.

Car show on Saturday at Hallett is $15.

Come and watch, drive or show and have a great time. The weather is supposed to be fantastic. SVT will be there with products to see and test as well as Tom Scarpello from SVT.

See you there.

Dell,

I missed the official sign up and now it looks like I may be able to attend. :)

National SVTOA says all I have to do is show up Saturday morning at 7:00 to late register - is it that simple?

If I register Saturday morning will I still be able to attend the BBQ dinner Saturday Night?

Is this what the daily schedule looks like?
National SVTOA says the schedule for the day is
7:00 to 8:00 - registrations and tech
8:00 to 9:00 - ground school
9:00 to 12 - driving skills
1:00 to 6:00 - open track

Thanks,

Al

Actually the registration deadline has been extended until Wed at 5pm western time so call and get registered which will help us with the numbers of dinners and stuff.

If you call and they still say you can not register please call me at 918-697-8082 and we will get it taken care of.

We are modifying the schedule some, but that is the basic day. The registration will open at the track at 7am with tech also starting at that time. We will be at the track at 6am.

CONGRATS and "thank you" to EVERYONE in the Oklahoma Chapter (along with an "assist" from the Kansas City Chapter) who had a hand in putting on an OUTSTANDING "Spring Thunder at Hallett" SVTOA On Track event! And for those of you who didn't attend (for one reason or another), what an event you missed!

The SVT crew was there in force! The SVT trailer, SVT merchandise, display vehicles and Mr. Scarpello himself. (Was GREAT seeing him out on track in that "screaming yellow" SVT Focus!) And the Sunday noon photo with the SVT 10th Anniversary Cobra parked in Hallett's winner's circle... soooo many great memories... and the "high fives" to everyone coming off track and those "ear to ear" smiles on everyone's face... AWESOME!

Lots of fun.. sun... plenty of "learnin' and turnin'" and even MORE great times with fellow SVTOA members who share this passion.

Also, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your event and for the support you all provided to me and my hard-working crew of instructors!

Well done y'all!! :tmb: :bna :tmb:

I'd like to say thank you to the OK chapter. It was great to come down from KC and try out a new track. I won't lie I hated the track saturday:rant: but it grew on me Sunday.

Dell and Jeff Great Job! And to all the SVT volenteers! It went real smooth. Just remember now you all have to come drive my track this september. Look forward to seeing everyone again!

Let me express my thanks to all who helped make the Hallett event a fun and safe time. A special thanks to all the instructors who gave up their weekend to come and work with people and help them learn the fun of driving fast and safe.

Thank you to all who attended. I hope you all had a great time and are looking forward to your next event with a greater desire to drive on track.

Great job and thanks to everyone, I had a great time down there. I finally got the video from the bumper cam uploaded and figured I'd share it with y'all. I had to kill the sound to keep the file size small, but other than wind noise all you could hear was me abusing my poor street tires.:D

Enjoy-

Bill

I meant to come by and talk to you, but I got too busy instructing. What were you using for your camera on the front of your car?

Thanks

The camera is basically very similar to that X10 camera that you see in those annoying popups. It runs off of a 9 volt battery and I run some RCA cables along the right side of the hood and in through the passenger door. I tuck the cables under the floormat and hook them up to my camcorder which is bolted to the floor via a metal plate that I attach to the seat bolts. Not counting the camcorder, I think the setup cost me about $40. Of that amount I think the camera was about $10 on eBay. If you want, I could email you some pictures some time next week (there's some wrong with my ISP right now; I can't send large attachments).
