I recently purchased a 2003 SVT Lightning. I hear from some people to drive it like you plan on driving it during the break-in period and the other school of thought is to baby it for awhile.

One of my concerns is that the Lightning had 78 miles on it at the dealership, all of those miles people probably drove the piss out of it on the test drives.

Also I was reading some people using the Ford Oil and others say to use Mobil One, or to use Mobile One after 5000 Miles.

Last but not least, what is real world 1/4 Mile times for a 2003 Lightning?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, and look forward to hearing from other SVT owners.

I was told not sure how true, to baby for a little while and let the seals get set with the charger or you will have oil burning problems like me later on. I am only 25K and burning a good amount more then SVT says is normal. Sorry, don't have a 03' but have 01' that has only exhaust change out. I am running consistent 12.98. Which i have Hand controls cause i am paraplegic and that helps get the juice there a little quicker. Good luck and enjoy the new toy.
