so how many lightning owners do we have that could give me some assistance. My 01 lightning, silver. got wheelchair lift in back, so not hard to mis. Anyways, When you start up this thing smokes like a mother. Dobbs is doing oil consumption test and i am burning about 1/3 of QT every thousand, but before ford will do anything, you must burn a full QT every thousand which would mean you could not see the truck drive down the road, if you don't believe me, i got a copy of it from the ford Warranty book. I only have 25000 miles and bought it with 16K from Dobbs. This is my daily driver and i do still have warranty, no chip ever added to my knowledge, but was jsut going to see if you all had any ideas. I use to install stereos for a living before i moved away from missouri, so i know the works on electronics and tons of 4 wheel drive knowledge, but have no experience with this type of truck. Which i love to death. Only real drag/sports vehicle i don't have to through my chair in the back seat or someones lap. Please advise. Thank you. Oh, my name is Matt, you can email me anytime. Thank you.:spank:

Matt, these trucks are known to pull oil through the valve seals on deceleration. This is normal. Pull throttle body and you will see all the oil in intake lower. john

but that doesn't explain 2 QTs per oil change and a huge cloud on evenry start up for a while and the inside of the exhaust is caked with Oil, not jsut little charing, but thick oil from one end to the other. but i guess before anything will be done, i have to burn a full 3QTs which is what ford says. I can see the 1/4 of a Quart for a full 3000 mile oil change from blow back on the charger, but not that much. Oh well, got warranty left.

2 qts is alot. Go to ford and complain. If no results call Ford customer service and complain. This tuesday we are meeting out at MMP for test-tune at 6:00. We would love to have you come out and meet everyone in our club. John
