I purchased a 2003 Cobra coupe in Sonic Blue with the optional polished chrome wheels at Jerome Duncan Ford in Sterling Heights, Michigan (got it for X-Plan price). Currently it has 200 miles on it and is in the shop at Westfield Ford in Countryside for leaking washer fluid tank, hydrobooster and proportioning valve (break fluid on my garage floor!). Otherwise, the car has been great for the 3 days I got to drive it to work. I have a Saturn as my daily "rainy/snowy day" driver.

I work in the south suburbs, so my Cobra will be seen in the morning between Orland Park and Homewood. I don't go out late much!

Welcome to the site! Do you post on svtperformance.com? I've seen that name before.

Welcome to the site!

Nice to see another south sider here:tmb:

Westfield is about 1/2 mile from where I work, what made you decide to get your 03 serviced there? I've had good & bad service experiences over there, just like anywhere else I guess.

They said they hand washed my Cobra, only a month old, but I see swirl marks all over it. I test drove my 1st Cobra there, so I decided to go there. I think I'll be going somewhere else, I don't like their shop setup. I bought the car out of state, so where else would you recommend for service?

You should take it to Packey Webb Ford (where we have our meetings), but remember if you bought your cobra somewhere else that service department is partial to the vehicle, so some other departmenta will not show the same respect, just my $.02, but word has it that Packey Webb Ford is tops...:allhail:

I still haven't had the parking brake recall done on my '97 yet because I don't want to deal with the service departments. I talked to a few about just handing over the parts and charging Ford for the labor, was basically told to get lost.

Well, maybe we should turn it into a tech session for one of our meetings at Packey-Webb;)

Good news, Chicago Mike!
If you bring your Cobra to Packey Webb Ford, we will now be giving a 15% discount on parts and labor if you're an SVTOA member. Just show your card when you bring it in.

Welcome Chicagomike;

I've been all over for service so I don't have much advise. I would think any dealer would want you to be happy so they can sell you another car. They get paid the same either way. Hope you get the bugs worked out so we can see your new baby.

Chicagomike,

Being that you're on the south side, you may also want to check out Rod Baker Ford in Plainfield. They're an SVT/Roush dealer and probably would give you some good deals as well.

Wow, I don't think I'll be travelling all that way for service. I live almost next to Midway airport in Chicago. As for the swirl marks, I went to a bodyshop and got a referral to a detailing shop. For $89 they are going to remove the swirl marks and seal it with the wax of my choice (no cheap stuff). It may cost a little more when it's done, but that's cool, as long as it looks new again.

15% off for service and parts. .. sounds good, but I'm keeping my 03 stock and I have a bumper-to-bumper $0 deductible 5 year/75,000 mile warranty :) when I reach 5000 miles I do plan on changing the motor oil, transmission oil and differential to Royal Purple synthetics, so I will be buying my own oils.
