Oil question.......

Have a question about the type of oil I should use. Also if I change to 5w-30 syn, will my warranty be voided ? My 01 manual recomends the 5w-20.

I understand that Ford went to the 5W-20 oil to gain a slight increase in fuel mileage (Gov't Standards). Many folks have
gone right back to the 5W-30 and most of them are using
full synthetics. I use Amsoil 0W-30 synthetic. I have heard
from reliable sources that for everyday driving the type and
brand of oil is less important than keeping it clean.

There are many great websites out there that explain the technical differences and advantages of different oil types. Watch out for the websites run by oil or oil additive makers. They have more interest in selling their product than explaining the truth.

I agree with Lumpydogs. I too use Amsoil and have for 23 years. Synthetics are the best from what I have experienced.
