In this forum we can post our SVT's experiences with law enforcement. I'll start:
Actually I haven't got pulled over in my SVT focus..............yet. But I'm sure you will enjoy reading this story anyway. I was in a 2002 Mustang GT (4.6L, 5 speed, drop top) at a 4 way stop. This is like 12:30 a.m. on a Sunday night so there are cars few and far between. There is one car I should mention though. It's in the left turn lane facing myself across the intersection. I live out in B.F.E. and am on one of many back roads. So naturally I decide to lay a nice patch across the intersection. It was quite loud and there was an amount of smoke. I think I dropped the clutch around 3600 rpms. At this point I'm sure the stranger in the car in the other lane is very impressed. I'm now about side by side with this car that suddenly is identifiable as a Crown Victoria. Well just to put some icing on cake I throw it into 2nd and let out a loud screech. At this exact moment I relize that this is in fact an unmarked police car. "FANTASTIC!!!" I shout to myself. So sure enough he busts a U-turn and pulls me over. Because of every other experience I've had with police I'm thinking to myself, "Oh great, here we go..." He walks up and asks, "Do, you know why I pulled you over?" Then he waits for a response! What the hell am I supposed to say? So, I reply "because I sqwaked the tires back there?" And he just says, "yea I'll let you go this time but you should slow down" (along with some other B.S.). I happily say, "yes sir" and drive off. He probably relized that I didn't really deserve the ticket. I mean there were no other cars around, it's not like anyones life was in danger, or I was doing a buck 20 down a back road with no posted speed limit. I guess not all cops are jerks. Who knows maybe some even share the same enthuasiam that we do...

Street racing=bad.
Profanity in posts=bad.

Take it to the track please.

SVTOA, SVT and Ford Motor Company do NOT endorse street racing.

I respect your objection to my questionable language in the last post Greg. So I have edited the story for you.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't rev my engine at every other car next to me at an intersection. However, when some little brat in his Honda thinks he's a tough guy. I can't help but mess with his head.
I do NOT endorse street racing either my friend. But how many of our members do you think have radar detectors riding along with them?
I just posted this story so you can read it and have a good laugh. And I would enjoy to hear some of the stories that other members have as well.

On my way home from the dealership after picking up the new '03 Cobra, I had a Michigan State Trooper follow me for 13 miles. Finally exited the freeway, and when he pulled up alongside, asked why he was following me. He replied that he was hoping I'd open it up, so he could give me a ticket.

A week later, while cruising along I-696, with cars passing me left and right, a Centerline PO cited me for doing 70 in a 65. Have a date in court next month. 70 was probably the slowest speed of any car on the freeway at that point. But the cops LOVE the SVT cars!:wtf:

The Mustang I got pulled over in was Yellow! (black top) Even in the dark that thing glows like a big frigging bumblebee (It just makes a louder buzz). Every time I drove by a cop, he would stare me down. I would NEVER go more than 5 over. That sucks though harryg, I feel your pain. I've gotten a few B.S. tickets myself.

you should have replied:

"go bust a meth lab or round up some murderers"

sounds like one of those cops on a power trip....those guys like to push the line. what he did was borderline harrassment.

Too bad I always do about 80 on I-696. You have to go at least that fast so you don't get ran over!

You know what I think would be great? :D To hear some stories from cops! :D I'm sure there's some on the site. Come on start talking...

Around here (Northern VA) tickets are about revenue. Many of the codes are set up to facilitate violations (like artificially low speed limits). It's about money; nothing more, nothing less. To say it is "behavioral correction" is a farse. It it was, no one would every violate motor vehicle code.

I have worked with police officers and even called a few my friends. For the most part they are good guys and gals who don't get the respect they deserve. They have...how should I put this..."suggested" quotas for tickets. This minimizes their normal discetion. I personnally think this harms the rapport between police and civilians.

Most tickets are true violations. The laws/codes are set up that intent is not an aspect to the violation. "Going with the flow of traffic" doesn't get you out of a ticket.

I recieved only one ticket in my Zinc Yellow Conv. Reckless driving- general. My tires lost traction coming off a light. It was a minor chirp. I was not racing, heck, I was in the middle of a pack of cars.

At court, which I had to show up (no prepayment option), I told the judge I was not guitly. Before teh case was recalled I spoke with the officer and asked if there was anything that could be done.

He admitted that I was not driving recklessly (endangering property or life) or even exceeding the 30mph speed limit. That was the only code that could fit. After a couple of minutes I think he got the feel that I was not some "bad guy". He went to the prosecutor and got the charges dropped.

Isn't attention what we asked for? I guess a Zinc Yellow 2003 SVT Conververtible will attrack unwanted attention too.

The main problem that I have is not necessarily the cop pulling me over, but trying to prove myself inocent from the ticket that he/she has issued. I understand that cops are usually just trying to do their job. I make mistakes at work too. You got lucky in your situation, 2K3Cobra. Every time I have ever tried to fight a ticket it takes up so much time that it doesn't even seem worth it. When I go to court they just give me some B.S. then tell me to come back another day. Not to mention that I have to set aside an entire day just to experience this. That's right, it takes an entire day for them to tell me nothing! The whole process has wasted so much of my time that I would have been better off paying the fines in the first place. I don't even attempt to fight tickets anymore. I just pay the fine and be on my way. I mean come on, it's a damn traffic ticket, I haven't been arrested for a felony. I should be able to call the court and make an appointment to see a judge. Then go in and explain to the judge why I believe myself to be innocent. This should happen the time I am scheduled, not 2 and 1/2 hours later! He will tell me that he agrees with me and the ticket is VOID; or that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about and I have to pay the ticket. It's that simple.

Maybe this is just a few bad experiences I've had, I don't know. :wtf: But who has time to jump through all of these hoops the court sets up for us? :wtf:
