Has anybody entertained the idea or actually got the Vortech supercharger?
I read somewhere that there was some problems?

Don't think its a bad unit. About 3 grand but no intercooler. Problems with the jackshaft were fixed so its a little more reliable. Makes good hp but not so great on torque. It builds full boost at the top of the rev range too. You can expect in the neighborhood of 260-290hp and 200tq at the wheels.

I've got thevortech unit. It's a good unit albeit a little tempermental. I'm running it on an SVt contour with a 3L engine swap done out of a 24valve taurus. It's set to be up and running in about 2 weeks with a dyno tune in 4 weeks.

That's cool that you have the Vortech and the 3.0 Taurus engine, but that really doesn't help us 2.5 peoples who need to know of a person with it and the 2.5 engine.
BTW, that's what I love about SVT. They are given a little (2.5) and get alot out of it (200 hp).

I think you missed the point of my post. The S/C is the same on the 2.5 or the 3.0 when used in the contour. On a non-SVT contour you can expect about 230-250 hp at the wheels. For the SVT add about 20-25 horses. I've had experience with the S/C on both SVT and non-SVT models on the 2.5 as well as on a 3.0. Basically it's a good unit. However, there are some quirks with Vortech themselves as in they are now not providing any type of tuning for this unit so it's up to the end customer to get their car properly tuned.
Also, if everything works out, I'll have an aftercooler setup available in the next month or so. I all ready sell an upgraded bypass valve through my website. Please feel free to email me if anyone has a contour related question. I provide services and parts for contours.
thanks,
Rick
