Has anyone had any problems, small or big, with their SVT Contour? Please guys, some input...I feel lonely in here.

So far, the only problems I have had are:
1) the dash curling up. Got the black piece put on from the recall and it rattles
2) wrist pin let go at 35k. Replaced under warrenty

Just curious, what's a wrist pin?

Greetings, haven't posted here in a while.

Nothing major to report and I have to give kudos to my dealer. These problems were corrected in 24 hours or less.

1. Replaced dash (Warpage)
2. Replaced MAF Sensor and ICV.
3. Bleed valve pinched (Transmission). Replaced

A wrist pin holds the connecting rod to the piston. These engines have a problem with oil starvation during hard cornering. I try to keep my oil level at the top of the mark on the stick and only use Mobil 1.

1) Dash recall- fixed under warranty
2) Wheel bearing- fixed under warranty
3) Persistent yucky smell from exhaust/ Car feels very underpowered and is no faster than a Contour SE- Ford can't figure out the problem. I'm a little irritated.

I've experienced a few problems, to include:

- a weird moaning noise eminating at an extremely low frequency between 2,000 and 3,500 rpms. Used to happen only when it was cold, now on a more regular basis

- gas pedal sticks on occasion

- parking brakes freezes to the right rear disc until friction warms it to alleviate the pressure

- driver's side power window switch mysteriously quit working

- left rear door groans like a Frenchman every time you open it

Most of these problems are easy fixes in the states, but in Germany, without a credit card, its a real pain in the ass. Can anyone offer me any solutions?

1) Classic "moosing" check out www.contour.org and look up the repair for it.
2) Sounds like your throttle body could be gummed up, check and clean it if needed.
3) Sounds like some lube is needed on the brake lever at that rotor
4) New switch needed.
5) a little spray lube on the hinges.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the helpful info. How do I guarantee that the classic "moosing" remains away after repairing the part? The squawking groan in the rear door could not be solved by WD-40 (I know, I was amazed and dismayed), but was corrected by a liberal coating of 10W30. I think its a common problem because I've heard civilian Contours make that noise as well. Now, has SVT left the throttle body where a normal person could find it and can I use carb cleaner to clean it?

The moosing cure is a permanent fix. The throttle body is attatched directly to the end of the upper intake manifold and very easy to locate. Follow the hose back from the air filter and where it attaches is the TB. You can get some regualr throttle body cleaner to clean it up with.

My jack covers keep falling off. They were a $10 part until ford discontinued them pre-painted. Now, we have to paint them before we put them on. Instead of $10... my last one cost me $45.00 :jawdrop: Is mine the only one???

The rest of the problems with my vehicle stem from the wife driving, so I can;t complain too much to you guys...

I actually found one prepainted and with shipping it ran me about $30. If you've got a good parts guy, they can run a locater search through the dealers and see if anyone still has a prepainted one on the shelf somewhere.

Have you found a more secure way to keep them on the car... the system they are using sortta sucks!!!

A zip tie is about the most secure way other than that little plastic retainer than they use as far as keeping from losing them all together. As far as keeping them in place you might try a couple dots of some double sided exterior foam tape but then they become a little bit of a pain to get back down if needed.

Thanks, I will try that...
