Hello, Is there anybody out there?
I thought I would see a bunch of responses and advice.
Hey 4-12-03 is the first test and tune here at Chicagoland Raceway in Joliet. 9AM-4PM.
Any of you Cobra Boys gonna be there? Dosen't anybody have a stock car for goodness sakes?
I do, that's right, well, if you call a K&N airfilter a MOD, I guess I'm modified but really folks, come out and show me why I should buy the pulley and chip set.

Well i'm big and bad but I don't really think I am an a$$ :D
I went last Saturday, we have a quarter mile club at work with about 120 members. There were about 40 of us at the strip last Saturday. I had never run the Cobra on the strip, I had only used the G-Tech and the desert to measure my mods. So here's the scoop.
Pulled in and went to the Tech line, from there straight to the staging area. Wanted to run it right from the street then work on dropping the DRs down (started with 28lbs). Just did a light spin to clean the tires:
60' 2.282
1/4 13.55 @ 103.35
Second run, dropped the tires to 18 lbs, did a little better clean of the tires (still not in the water).
60' 2.075
4th gear spit the shifter right back into my hand. No more third of fourth. SO Monday I ordered a D&D Performance T56 6-speed and put it in Friday. Has to be the best mod I've done. Now I can put in a set of 4.56's and still have highway cruising capibilities.

I guess there is nobody else out here but us. Have you been to the drags lately? I want to get back and try it with the six speed because the first four gears are a much closer ratio. No drop between 1st and 2nd like the 5-speed. It just seems to have the cammer right in its power range all the way through all the gears.

I was suposed to go today 4-22-03. Sunny & 55 degrees and 40% humidity is a little cool but I can't get away today.
I'm going for sure (weather permiting) 4-29-03 and I'll have the following.
Stock tires, Denso iridium plugs and a K&N filter. Last year I just couldn't keep my foot out of it in the 60' game, but this year I expect to leave the line as I should (what ever that might be).
I expect to tick off 12.? in a consistant manner, If I don't.....it might be time for a Z06 before the interest rates come back.
Just kidding.

55 is a little cool. A couple weeks ago I went to the strip with a group from work, the Honeywell QMC (Quarter Mile Club) and I made the first run in street trim with my 99 coupe and rattled off a 13:55. I was expecting a little lower times with the gears and mods I had. I wiped out the 3-4 shifter fork on the second pass (that is why I put in the T56). I was talking with one of the group that was running a Z06 with DRs on it and only hitting 13.1xx and he said he woulnd normally run in the mid 12's but the cold track and lousy air was causing everyone to run a little slower.
So don't be real disappointed if you don't hit the 12's on a cool day. Hve fun and don't break it like I did. Although the T56 was the best mod I have done to date.

Hi, guys! Haven't been on the board for a loooong time, but thought I'd put something in here. I ran the Mosport Grand Prix track last summer in an SVT Focus and posted consistent 1:54's. I wanted to ensure the car came back home in one piece, so wasn't pushing it. I probably could have shaved another 3-4 seconds off easily otherwise. This year should be different, so we'll see what happens.
I have to say that the SVT Focus was (and is) an incredibly stable and amazingly FUN :D car for the track. It could really be hustled around and it just was begging for more.
Has anyone else with an SVT Focus found the same thing on a road course?

Ok - fine. How's this:
Best 1/4 time at Sears Point on 4/9/03: 13.718 (while lifting to avoid breakout - but it didn't help!). First run since I put in 3.73 gears in Dec.
Sears Point lap time: March of '02 - about 2:13. Just went again last Saturday - best time about 2:14.

I ran 11.91 tonight. 1.82 60 ft. 2700 foot elevation track which using the NHRA sea level conversion equals 11.52. The car weighs 3980 with me in it. The track officials didn’t even give me a hard time about running a sub-12. So I’m pretty happy about that. When I first tried drag racing after buying this car last August, I couldn’t get a 60 ft under 2.2. It’s nice to finally be able to get out at least as good or better than most of other the street legal cars at my local track. Since I have the only 03 Cobra that runs here it's like being the King of the Road. I wonder how long that is going to last . . . .

Ok, so I haven't raced my SVT Focus on the strip but I do drive fast. The fastest was 120 MPH and then the road ran out. My buddy just got a '96 Cobra and let me tell you this- The Focus has nothing on the Cobra. I am proud to say that on cornering I whooped his a$$. I beat him there.

First time at the track (even as a spectator), ran 13.3 and 1111 mph but not at the same time. Tires are limiting factor!!:)

With a trap speed of 1111MPH I think you should be running a bit faster than 13.3, but I could be wrong:allhail: .

Hey that's what the tickets say. I hit the rev limiter first time in 3rd at 100 mph, but that was my best ET. The others, adreniline got the better of sense, so wheels were spinning. First time at the drag strip, street tires, so next time who knows?
Oh, and watched a ZO6 get blown away by a Cobra, all is well :)
