I've been wondering if anyone has done such a mod yet. I'm thinking this can be done at the fuse box by somehow linking the fog and DRL relays together.

I've read that post, but there's nothing in there about wiring it into the Daytime Running Light (DRL) system. For this case, when the car is started the fogs must come on while the headlight switch is turned to off. The "fog light" mod only works when the switch is turned to the parking lights mode.
I know the DRL system is controlled by a relay that's near the fog light relay... :wtf:

In canada the headlights must be on (reduced power) whenever the engine is on. With no driver input. That is DRL. (daytime running lights) He wants to disconnect the headlights and have the fogs turn on as DRL's instead.
Gapboy- I would imagine that if you were to get under the fuse box and locate the wire to the DRL's and cut it and splice to the power for the fogs it would work. I have removed the relay for the DRL and it is right beside the foglight relay. I can't tell you which one because my car is still in storage.

i understand that. the foglight mod allows the fog lights to be on without the head lights. the only difference between this and DRL's is that you have to pull the knob out, and that only takes a fraction of a second. if i didnt feel like pulling the knob out, or my left arm was missing, then i could see taking more time to figure out and do a DRL mod.
anyhow, ill look around and try to help, if i come across anything I'll post it.

The funny thing is, I notice the new 2.0 SX (i.e. Neon), and European cars like the Audi A4 seem to wire the fogs on full-strength.
Bluetoy - I want to see if it's possible NOT to cut any wiring. The only reason I pulled the relay was the fear of shortening the life of the HIDs.

Rich. Maybe if you can somehow figure out which wire is which then you can get them out of the fusebox and replace them in the holes you need.
