My FSVT has a problem with the throttle cable sticking. Really noticeable when on the highway and letting off in heavy traffic. Touch throttle again and it sticks a little, causing a not so smooth acceleration. Any one else have this? I work at the Ford plant in Oakville, and I don't really feel like taking it in to the dealer because they could screw it up even more.

Mine Sticks when it is real cold out.
Mostly when you first touch the pedal..
Until the car warms up.

If it were real cold out and anything stuck I think I'd just blame the weather. Figure I got some water in the cable and it froze. If it didn't let go once the car was warm...then I'd take warning. As far as the sticky throtle...I've never heard of that. Do you have a car with the bad cruz' controle cables?
good luck

I've noticed the same thing. My throttle feels like it's sticking for the first few minutes after starting when it's cold outside. After that, it's fine. It feels like the cable is just bound or something. Still works fine with the cruise control, though. Guess it's just one of those little things I gotta deal with, but hopefully someone up in Dearborn is already aware of it...

I had a problem with my throttle sticking. I alerted my dealer (Woody Sander) and they replaced the throttle body under warranty. I haven't had a problem since. I do not know if this is related to the TB recall I have heard about for early build Foci. Mine was built in Apr. 2002.

it all depends on your build number. If you were one of the first 500 or so then yes your TB was an issue. All others had this fixed before they left the plant.

Well, I'm fairly sure that whateer recall applied to the TB issue does NOT apply to my car. The locals here ran my VIN on OASIS when I brought-up the RLA6 issue, and nothing came up. Anyhow, I don't intend to go to an autocross some night, park my car al night, then hop right in and start around the cones. Nothing really to worry about in the near future...

I think that is the automatic choke if its in the first 10 minutes

My throttle has been sticking since about 5k miles. It only occurs during the first 1/8 inch of depression of the pedal, that it is smooth after that. I have assumed that this is normal. The dealer has had my car a number of times and they had never mentioned anything unusual about the "added friction" to get the pedal moving. Here in SoCal, it certainly isn't the cold weather doing it. I thought I would just try following the cable and lube everywhere I could with some graphite spray.

Hey Dreinhart,
Chokes are a thing of the past. No such animal with fuel injection. The beauty of electronics did away with them. Got to love technology. Not trying to flame you or anything. ;)

Yes. First 1/8 of depression on throttle. Going 120 on QEW, let off gas for traffic, then try to touch accelerator tiny pinch, and it sticks and then goes down 1/5. Jerky feeling when this happens.

I have the same problem with the cable sticking. I just took matters into my own hands about it because the dealership I bought my SVT Focus from was horrible to begin with but when there is only two dealers around here I had to choose one of them. I contacted the attorney general about it because some of these cars should not have been sold to the public. I have numerous website about this problem and I am underway in getting this problem with my car solved. Its getting pretty ugly but for some of you who its not a big deal I am happy your sale was better than mine. If you guys have any questions or need any of the websites just let me know.

Took my drive into the dealer today. List of things to be taken care of included:
1) Horn not working right since the last rain.
2) Audiophile has stolen two CD's again.
3) TSB RLA-6.
4) Sticking Throttle.
5) "Sucking" sound when I come off throttle.
Service manager got me a rental car, but they still wanted my cc to run a $20 deposit refundable upon return.
Service manager says it's an easy card to replace for the RLA-6. I am confused, I thought it was a download from Ford that has to be uploaded to my ECM.
He took the SVTf for a quick spin around the block and noticed the sticking throttle and surge at 3k RPM.
He called later to say that the sticking throttle is because the piece that moves to change between the long/short runners is sticking/broken and probably hasn't been working right since I got the car. He also said that I will see a noticable increase in performance that I am about 25hp down 'cuz of this.
He has ordered new parts and said he will do the TSB for RLA-6 when the parts arrive, he expects it in a few days.

What would be cool
Is if you can convince the tech wo told you
what was broken and causing the "sticking"
to call SVT and report it, so we all can benifit from it
and not have to fight with the dealers !
have fun

I doubt that it is a sticking cable. I posted earlier with a similar complaint. After talking with the knowledgeable dealer, he confirmed that it is the electronic control which keeps the engine revs high, which is noticeable between shifting. The purpose is to better match enginer speed with wheel speed, and for more powerful shifting...
Apparently there is a new firmware release out which should improve this...

When I bought my car in April of last year they replaced the Crusie control and then I picked it up after that because that was supposed to be the problem of the sticking Throttle body. I have never had any problem with mine other than the horn going out twice and the CD player eating one of my cds. Everything was replaced and my car is working fine other than the ruff idle when I start the car. That only happens once in a while. The dealership says Ford is working on a fix for that.

I have, what I think is the same issue, but not sure. Quite often, especially when it is cold and/or wet, when I go from light throttle to full throttle, it will click. It feels mechanical, like there is a kink in the line, though I realize that this is probably unlikely.
Is this the same issue? Sometimes it is really very light, and sometimes you can actually hear the click.

I just feel resistance in my foot, no click. And only really notice it when touching pedal lightly to adjust to rush hour traffic.

I get that click too. When I pull out of my driveway and do the first real acceleration it happens, and then it never happens again the same day. I've also had the throttle sticking, but not since it got warm.
