The Lancaster (PA) Chapter is planning to attend Fords at Carlisle for the weekend (May 30 - June 1.) Tentative plans include the Mustang Monthly Pony Trail on Friday and attending for the show on Saturday.

We would love to have any SVTOA members attend with us. If you are a member from another Chapter (that is not attending) and you are coming to Carlisle for the show, get in touch with us. There is plenty of room!

Carlisle has an online registration form on their website. The cost this year is $35 for the weekend and includes admission for the vehicle and two adults for the weekend. To attend with us, contact me at the address below and register by April 17.

Contact Tim at TRCCC@Dejazzd.com for more information.

As Tim has said, All Ford Nationals at Carlisle is one of the largest Ford events in the nation! :tmb: I have already registered and will be there Friday and Saturday!:bna In addition to all the usual cool stuff, the 2005 Mustang concept cars will be on display!:tmb:
This is a weekend not to be missed and it's open to ALL Ford fans!:spinem:

Is your chapter planning to attend as a group? We talked around and pretty much thought that the local chapters would already have plans to go.

Anyone else on the fence, if you enjoy your Ford and cars in general, you really need to get to Carlisle at least once!

Jamie, Carlisle is one weekend a year, surely you can miss the shore for one weekend!:bash: Besides, you can help judge the bikini contest on Saturday!:tmb:

If you enter the show, cars are parked in class. Cobras are all parked together, Lightnin's together, etc..:tmb: Carlisle has requirements to register as a group and receive VIP treatment. It is something we could try to do next year. I believe the current number of members required to be registered is 20. If several of our regions registered as SVTOA, I'm sure we could meet that number.:cbra:

I was talking with several SVTOA Chapters from the Northeast Region over the weekend and we are going to try to meet up at Carlisle during the Ford event. :bna Perhaps we can convince them to meet us at the go cart track in Carlisle for some action!:spinem: Whaddau think?

Some additional information about Carlisle:

I called Carlisle today to clarify the club issue. You can either register as a general showfield entrant or with a club. Since SVTOA is a national club, they would group anyone who registers under SVTOA with the same club unless we would specify otherwise. The number requirement of 25 only applies for the cutoff of when you get a "free" club tent. Under 25 and the tent (if you want it) cost is $145. The tent is 20x20 and allows a place to meet.
Depending how many from your (or other) chapters are planning to attend, it may make the most sense to group together.
I believe at least a few from Free State are planning to attend.

Hope that helps.

I don't know. I've never been to Carlisle. What if we all met up and car pooled out there? Would anyone be staying the weekend?

Is there a head count yet? If we can get a head count and register as the SVTOA, I'll be glad to go! I'll wash the truck too! ;) Seriously though. Wouldteh tent be for parking or people meeting?

As far as the go kart track goes, I don't know Herb. There aren't too many fast drivers in our group, we might get our collective ass beat! I can't carry the WHOLE chapter with my spectacular driving skills!

There is still plenty of time to make plans to go to Carlisle! :spinem: This will be a good year to make the trek with Ford celebrating it's centennial. The Mustang concepts will be there along with the 427 concept. SVT will also be there showcasing the product line and selling merchandise. Make it a new Cobra shirt for me!:tmb: It promises to be a fun filled weekend with drag racing, dyno testing, autocrossing, cruise night and possibly the largest all Ford show on the East coast!
I encourage every Ford fan to consider attending this event! :cbra:

These are just some of the things to do up in carlisle, There is an 1/8th mile dragstrip just down the road and the Fords are there Fri nite $20 bucks gets you in the pits. There is a burnout contest Sat nite. There is an auto cross Sat morning. Also there is a bikini contest Sat. If you need a part for your car I'm sure you can find it there. York which is about 20min away has one of the biggest hotrod shows on the east coast the same weekend so you can go down there any day and see hundreds of cars running around town.

That's all true. And tons of fun. But, for some reason the NSRA changed their schedule this year. For the last who knows how many years, the two events were the same weekend. Not this year. The National Street Rod Association East Nationals are June 6,7,& 8 this year.
There is plenty to do in Carlisle, without going down to York!

This was sent to me by Tim Cahill of Lancaster SVTOA and I thought I would post it here for everyone in Delaware Valley to see. Hope you will join us there!
Tim writes:

Okay, with the scheduling of our show and Fords at Carlisle, it's been difficult trying to make sure all is well for Carlisle. So, I need everyone's help. In trying to organize everything, we do not have a record of who is attending. Please respond to this email if:

A. You have already registered with Carlisle and intend park with us in the showfield or
B. You intend to register for Carlisle (with SVTOA) for any or all days and intend park with us.

I need your name and phone number so that I can make sure everyone is that is registered will be in the right place.

If this is the first you are hearing of this, the Lancaster Chapter will be at Fords at Carlisle May 30, 31, & June 1. We will have our own area on the showfield. The cars will not be judged, unless we do it ourselves. The purpose is to display our cars, meet other members, and have a good time. We will most likely have some sort of information table set up as well.
If you can attend at all, please join us for this event.

Don't forget, the Pony Trail will be on Friday, leaving from CJ Pony in the morning. If you want to participate (ALL FORDS ARE WELCOME!) be there before 9:00.

Thank you for your help.

Tim Cahill

P.S. - Greg, Can you get the names of those confirmed from Maryland?

What time do you think you'll get there? I think the dragstrip starts at 6PM. You can leave your Cobra on the fairgrounds and take the shuttle(school) bus to the track unless you plan on running!:spinem:
