I love my car, but ever since I've had her, she sucks way too much gas. I'm seeing 18-19 MPG, and with gas nearly $2.00/gallon, it's getting expensive. :jawdrop:
Is anyone else seeing this bad of mileage, or am I just too heavy in the right foot?:spinem: My tire pressure and everything is OK, so I'm not running on 10 PSI or anything. It's just a little hot rodded econobox, and compared to the standard ZX3, it shouldn't lose so much economy.

spending $25/week on gas is a minimum with the SVTF. Your mileage does suck though. It seems that you must be primarily racing stoplight to stoplight. I'm getting about 26mpg on ave. Granted i'm making nearly all of my miles on the highway, i'm still above what the factory tested it at. Then again i'm running in sub-zero temps with much dinser air. Hold on...i'm also at a higher elevation w/ thinner air...DAMN. Though I was gunna get an extra HP for location.:bash:
To the point. 19mpg doesn't seem right.

if your gas mileage is that bad you might want to check to make sure te throttle body and DSI are ok. Take it in to a dealer and have them look at it.

My new job at a Chevy dealer (I still hate 'em. Thet're all poorly cunstructed and long in the tooth. :fryem: ) has me driving more hwy miles but that should help. I've owned it since late October 2002, so perhaps cold starting has an affect, where I'll sometimes let it idle to warm up. Maybe a change in driving habits and warmer weather will help? That reflash I've been hearing about may help too. Otherwise I'll have to make a trip to the freindly SVT Ford dealer. :thud:

So far with 1500 miles on the odo my fuel mileage average is 20.7 mpg but that is mostly local driving with the a/c on.But I do "clean" her out on the highway trying to stay with traffic @ 80-85 mph. :)

I'm averaging 27-28 with mostly highway driving. I expect to do better after the ECU reflash.....maybe unrealistic expectation but can always hope.

:thud: smannig1, that is some incredable mileage! are there any stop signs or lights any where near you? The best I've ever gotten was about 27.5mpg on a long trip that was moastly downhill for many many miles. I'd love 30mpg! :tmb:

i gassed up today and driving calm and slow with a few bursts getting to 70 on the freeway I got 29mpg on my last tank of gas.
I have 5,000 miles right now, but I used to be able to get 26 if I went to sacramento cruising at 70 with the cruise control with less than 3,500 on the odometer.

Trying to get good gas milage in this car is like trying to keep your hands off a beautiful babe who keeps winking at you and puckering her lips!

I drive from Newmarket to Peabody for work and put about 96 miles a day on her, mostly highway (about 70%). I've been consistently getting 28 mpg and that is travelling at speeds in excess of 80 for most of the highway drive. Pretty damned good, I think.

During winter, most northern areas add alcohol to the gas to help vapor pressure. This usually worsens the gas mileage. Also some states are using 'oxygenated' fuel which also makes it worse.
Most people see an improvement in the spring when the gas companies change back.

Well, for the record, I get about 27 MPG average with mixed hwy/street driving, and I am most certainly HEAVY in the right foot. For comparison, in my Y2K ZX3 I got 30-33, depending on time of year and such. And I tore its clutch to shreds, maybe even the synchros too. Yeah, I'm an abuser. But even without RLA6 (yet) I'm getting decent mileage. I'm due to go get looked-at for RLA6 in a week, so assuming that all goes well, I'll keep a close eye and report my mileage to yaz...
