If it`s gonna stay relitively stock. The King Cobra clutch will suit your needs. If you want to put some serious hp to it in the future than go with Centerforce or Spec.Pricing up here is alot more than down there.Hope this helps.

Personally, from the little research I've done so far (I'm also considering a new clutch)...I think the upgrade clutch kit available through buyfordracing.com looks like a pretty sweet deal - $240 gets you this:
"It consists of the production 1999 Cobra 4V flywheel, 11 inch clutch/pressure plate assembly and attaching bolts/dowel pins to replace the 10.5 inch clutch assembly in the 1996-98 Cobra 4V vehicles"
I'm seriously considering this route...AND I've heard the King Cobra clutch ain't that great.

I would agree totally. I tried a King Cobra kit from FRPP and it had an extremely stiff pedal. It was even hard to parallel park because it was just like an On/Off switch.
I took it out and installed the 11" clutch upgrade kit from FRPP and it is about perfect for my needs.

I went with the King Cobra, and billet flywheel from Steeda. I love the stiff clutch and crip of the King Cobra is great. I have had it for a while now, drive medium to hard on it and it is still like new it terms of feel. The pedal did get some getting used to, but I love it now.

For clutches and Transmissions i would call D&D Performance Wixom,Michigan on Martin ave. Sorry i do not have thier Ph.# on hand
The best street set up i found was the McLeod 800 series dual friction disk(Kevlar&organic) with a FRPP Presure plate. D&D will give all the details.

I have had 3 clutches in my Cobra in the last year. Okay the first was a Center Force- I liked this and had no problems with it at all. Not to stiff and held great on the strip.
2nd Clutch was a SPEC Clutch Stage II from Steeda- Stiff Clutch, but when it was taken off the lower 1/3 of the Plate was not even touching my Fly wheel... Not a single mark on it. NOT GOOD.
3rd I went back to the stock clutch. I like the strip and when my transmission went out for the 3rd time I had enough and wanted a warranty. So to do this Ford wanted all Ford Parts on it. So keep that in mind when getting your Clutch work done. Also find someone who knows how to adjust your clutch cable correctly.
Have fun.
