Just bought a leftover '02 that was already titled from the dealer with less than 100 miles. I received one owners manual that doesn't include anything that the SVT has. I hope there is another set of manuals to purchase.

Please let me know what came with your cars. I want something that will give me the proper maintenance intervals.

Also, what is the correct break-in and how long is it? First oil change?

Don't all SVT cars come with some type of build certificate or a sheet of authenticity? And where do I get one?

Any info would be great. I love this thing, except when my girlfriend pulled the passenger "Oh ****" handle out of the roof on the way home from the dealer today. (Yeah, I know what your thinking, but she's only 105 lbs).

First off congrats on getting your SVTF :tmb: .There should be an SVTF owners manual that comes with the car's owners manual which gives more info on the specific items on the SVTF when you bought it so if it is missing contact the dealership for them to give you one.Now if the car was titled prior to you buying it possibly that person might get the build certificate so the best thing to do is contact SVT @ 1-800-ford-svt give them your VIN number and they can tell you what build number the car is and what date the car was manufactured.Tell them also that the car was previously titled and you now own the car so what can you do to guarantee that the certificate gets mailed to you.Keep in mind it takes time for SVT to receive the paperwork from the dealership and could take approx. 6 weeks or more to get the certificate.
---As far as the passenger grab handle I wouldn't want to arm wrestle your girlfriend she sounds tough;) .Actually that should be a warranty repair so I wouldn't worry just bring it in to service.
---Break-in period you will get many opinions about it but what I do is vary my driving by taking it easy(no high revs or maintaining the same speed for long periods of time) until after 1200 miles because you are breaking in the motor, tires, trans and brakes.
---First oil change about 3000 miles. Some will say earlier some will say later. Just follow the recommended intervals per the maintenance schedule in the owners manual.

Thanks for the reply. Should I wait till 3,000 to change the oil or do it at 500 (like I'm used to for a new motor) and then go to 3,000? Like I said I have no owners manual. And also do I have to run premium all the time. I'd like to run 89 on long trips to save a little. 93 is $2 a gallon here today. Thanks alot.

Unfortunatly you have to run premium (at least 91 octane). Ours hasn't hit $2/gl yet but it isn't far off. You should have an owners manual holder, a nice black one with SVT embroidered on the front along with the special SVT owners manual addition.:wtf:

Congrats!!!:bna

Hope you have better luck than me in you first few weeks of ownership. Some kids threw a pumpkin into my windshield on the second weekend I had her. Right in front of my house too, sick a-holes!

Since then things have been peachy, so take care of your new toy.:)

Congrat's on getting the new toy!:tmb: I hope you have a great time with it. As far as the materials that came with my car, I got the things that have already been listed. Everything fits nicely in the neopreen SVT owners folio.

As far as break in..
change the oil as much as you want..
It wont hurt anything, it will only help..

SVT told me this:
Do not go over 4000 RPM, untill 1000 miles
and no hard acceleration, go easy..:bash:
No constant RPM.
Break in takes at least 2000 miles, depending on driving conditions
Change the oil at 2000, 5000, 7500, 10000
and DO NOT add synthetic untill after 10000

Myself I will be changing my oil every 2000.
If you do not want to do this, you should at least change the
oil filter often.. this does wonders

Enjoy, ;)

congrats on gettin the SVTF. welcome to the club. you should also be recieving an SVTOA membership kit in the mail, as long as you make SVT aware that the car is yours now. it will take anywhere from 7 to 10 weeks (approx.) to get it. i got mine about 8 weeks after I took delivery if my car. you will also be recieving a Team Ford Racing membership kit with a nice hat and all sorts of literature. your first year is free in both. it'll take a while to get your SVT certificate too. i got my car in august, and i just got the cert. about 1 month ago i think.

as far as the changing of fluids goes, i changed my oil, tranny fluid and coolant after the first 1000 miles. the ancient pharoah juice that comes stock is rubbish. some say not to switch to synthetic oil until 7000, 10000 miles or whatever. but with the technology in new cars, i dont see the need for the wait. plus the tranny juice is ****, and the coolant will begin to breakdown after about a year. so those were my first 3 "mods". i only have about 4900 miles i think, and the car is running great. now i all i need is the new RLA-3 reflash and im set.

oh yeah, you SHOULD have the SVT embroidered manual holder thingy, and you should have the SVT owners manual supplement. ]

who knows, maybe youll get the mug in the mail too i've heard about. i never got one.
