:wtf: Back in 1996 I bought my first SVT vehicle which was a Mustang Cobra ( Mystic Metallic ). At the end of the model run that year I received a certificate stating the date of manufacture and the production number of that vehicle. I now have a 2002 Lightning and I am wondering if SVT still sends the certificates to the original owners? If so, when should I be expecting it?

Theoretically you should get one sent to you automatically if you bought the current model year while its still in production. SVT stops sending certificates automatically 1 month after the model year production run ends. Sometimes the system doesn't work like its supposed to.

If you don't have one, you can call SVT at 800.367.3788 and they will send one out based on giving them proof of ownership.

:kiss: Thanks for your reply but I'm a little confused. Does SVT stop or start sending certificates one month after the model year production run ends? Also, when does production end for the Lightning? Is it September? By the way, thank you very much for the toll free phone number. It looks like I may have to use it.

SVT stops sending certificates automatically on a model year vehicle 30 days after its production stops. If you bought it while they were still producing that model year, you should get one without asking. However, if you bought your truck while it was technically still in production and didn't get one, you wouldn't be the first. Sometimes sales reporting gets screwed up. In fact, if you bought in July, I know that all July SVT sales data was lost in the system somehow and these owners will have to call for their certificates.

I am not sure when the production ends for the Lightning. I think it is sometime in fall but not sure.

Don't hesitate using the SVT Hotline 800 number. They are very accomodating.

I talked to SVT today and they told me that the certificates for the 2002 Lightning have not yet been sent out. They said that I should receive it sometime between now and the end of the year. :tmb:

I finally received my certificate on Tuesday ( 1/21/03 ) but it said that My Lightning wasn't built until a month after I drove it home. I called SVT and they said there was a problem at the printers and some of the build dates were wrong. They said I would be receiving a new certificate. The only problem is, they didn't say how long it would take to get the new certificate.:wtf:
