Has anyone had any experience with the Volant Premium Cool air system?

I have "heard" they have had fitment and design problems. No first hand experience. Here is a thread that discusses the Volant among others. The links within the thread are informative too.

Hope it helps.

In my opinion the Volant systmem is an overpriced under-acheiver. I would go with a JDM open air or just do a K&N drop in with a modified stock air box (4 one inch hole cut in the bottom.

Have Volant cold air kit on my 2001 L. gas mileage went up 2mpg on hwy. but lost 2 tenths in a quarter. I hope chip will give more fuel.

Lane, consider this. A motor is really just a big air pump. The more air you pass through the motor with the matching proportionate amount of fuel delivered, the faster you will go.

With our trucks we have the following characteristics:

1. A restricted air inlet (despite a bigger MAF and air inlet for 01).
2. A blower (blowers love more air).
3. A sophisticated computer program (upgraded in 01) that will easily deliver more fuel if requested to do so (within reason) by the MAF.
4. A very free flowing, efficient, and hard to improve upon factory exhaust system even after mods.

So, if you buy into my initial recipe for power, the Volant has proven that is not going to get you where you want be regardless of you do next. What your findings tell me is that your mileage went up because the MAF measured a lower volume of air into the motor which in turn told the computer to deliver less fuel to keep the proper A/F ratio resulting in less power. :)

B.O.B..............seems to be the way it has been preached to me by my "old man" my whole life. The only way to increase power, is to move more air........or move the air you already are in a more efficient manner.:tmb:
