Mine was a brand new black '88 GT, I think I paid around $14.500 which was sticker, it was a hot car at the time so dealers were doing what they are now with the '03's and adding up to $3K over sticker.

1968 Fastback. 289, 4-spd. Limegold, with the dealer applied C-stripes and two hood stripes. Every interior doo-dad you could get. Yes, I will say for the record that the Limegold wasn't that bad if you kept it waxed and the sun hit it just right. Paid $1600 for it during the summer of '79. Superficially nice, but loaded with "stealth rust." Plus, I don't think the first owner had ever changed the oil. Wrecked it two years later while being a dumb a$$ 19 year old.

My first was an '86 5.0. Between my son and I we put about 225K on it with no significant engine problems.

Got another GT in 2000, and traded it for a 2003 Cobra this September

My first stang was a 84GT Turbo - burgandy and black. It was bought new as a dealer demo for $11,500. It was fun car to drive and it was a rush when the turbo kicked in. Fast in its day but very slow compared to my current ride :-)

My first car was a 68 Ford Torino Fast Back with a 302.

After a few Chevy muscle cars (66 Chevelle SS, 67 Camaro, and 64 Nova SS) I decided to go with a late model car. I didn't like the F-bodies or the Grand National, so I went with a Mustang. My first Mustang was a 93 GT.

1st Mustang... 1978 Mustang II King Cobra. Purchased used with 22,000 miles... I drove it daily in HS and freshman at college. Sold with 66K miles and still placing in car shows.

302 V8, 4-speed, t-tops... I kept it completely stock and ran in local autocross events. The car handled VERY well, especially for having 13-inch tires on it!!!

It really was a fun car.. and for everyone that says a Mustang II was just a fancy Pinto, the first Mustangs were just fancy Falcons!

I drove home my white 85GT coupe in August of 84 for a measly 11 or 12 grand and kicked a$$ big time until spring of 86 when I picked up my 86 GT Convertable (auotmatic trans though, I was affraid of having a 5 speed and no roof) big mistake, the trans belonged in a Lincoln, what a slush box.

Traded that for a (don't tell anyone this, but an 88 Acura Integra.....Oh I know...Honestly...I only kept it for 6 weeks and then bought an 88 T/A...GREAT CAR (I thought I died and went to Heaven while I owned that car, it was my most favored until 03 Cobra), then a 90 T/A...totaled it and bought a 91 LX hatchback....had to cut costs for a while.

On to a 93 Vette Roadster automatic in Dec. of 92 (couldn't find a 6 speed in Aqua Blue with White top an guts) Dealers were starving, I paid 37,000.00 for a 44,500.00 sticker without even asking for it (remember the introduction of "No dicker sticker" what a deal...fabulous, but wimpy although I did see 157MPH once. As nice as that car was it just did evrything too well, no sloppy sliding around like the live axle Mustangs and T/A's, and I like that stuff ya'know. ABS was wierd getting used to also, I mean it's great, but it was awkward. Then I moved into a 97 Tahoe and a 95 Eldo. 2000 Tahoe...(awesome)...and when I saw the Motortrend article for the Cobra I said screw this parenting **** with this Tahoe I'm getting one.

As it turned out I ordered in March and it was delivered in June and I haven't had to let the Tahoe go so I'm kinda happy. Especially since this 03 Cobra has kicked all comers except one Blown T/A. This Mustang is so fine I can't believe it.
You can tell by the fact that the 05 is gonna look like the 66 that Ford ain't gonna be making mistakes any more, well at leat I hope not.

a 65 coupe 6 cyl. 3spd. from MI. Needless to say it has some rust. I have owned the car for somewhere around 17 years and fixed a lot of the rust, but it will never be all gone. It still looks Good after about 15 years of resto. I am gona sell it now to pay off part of the cobra. I feel like a trader getting rid of it after all of our history, 302, top loader, and a lot of hours of touching it. I bought it for my wife(girlfriend at the time) and we restored it together. Paid 400 bucks and thought later when I found all of the floors rusted out that I might have paid too much. That is long in the past now though. However it is no fun to drive anymore exept for the cool factor of a 65! The cobra just wipes the floor with it so it has got to go.:cbra:

I wouldn't even want to think about it. I haven't been able to really work on an engine since they got so complicated you could look straight down past the fender and not see garage floor.

In '79 bought a '73 Mach I w/ 351 cleveland. But only a 2 barrel carb. Blue with silver stripes. Loved those twist down hood latches. Where can you get those these days? Installed Hedman headers, had to straddle a bar-ditch to weave them up into position. Rebuilt the front suspension, to stock specs. Was for repair only. Working on it was sooooo easy. Could climb right inside the engine compartment.

Next - '90 GT Red, and I mean RED! No mods. Paid $12,500 (add car).

Now - '03 Cobra vert w/ K&N, Royal Purple. Just installed MagnFlow cat-back. Purrrrrrrfect sound. Wife bought me the '03 Cobra before I knew about the new Mach I. But I'm not complainin'.

red '84 with no floorpans, engine siezed before I drove it more than 40 feet.

Not really a mustang but since its been dissed here: a Tan '79 pinto, thing ran awesome, only minor electrical problems but that's expected for well over 200k miles. Fast for a four banger, with engine bay room to grow. Only other problem, no AC in Florida heat with Orlando traffic.

I guess my first (real) mustang (driven more than 40 feet): my '03

My first car was a new 74 Pinto 4sp. My first Mustang was an 85 GT (5sp) Coupe, then 86 Conv. (AOD) big mistake. Then later on to a 91 LX Hatchback w/5.0 5sp. The only Mustang I really know is the Fox body so I'm glad I got the 03 Cobra. I think this is as good as it's going to get. I hope there is no '04 so I can keep this as the last and the best of this run.

It was the 302. I loved that car. Something about the way it sounded in those higher RPM"s that just makes me wanna scream too. A friend had a 429 Boss and we use to line em up every now and then. I actually held my own till we got movin. There was a place called Steak- N- Shake that all the muscle cars would go hang out every night and there would be lines down the street waiting to drive through on weekends. All the ladies of course would pull through as well. It was a great time to be young and crazy. Damn, now I'm starting to sound like an old fart. I guess I better go crank up the Cobra and go for a spin while listening to the blower whine. That should satisfy me for a little while.

My first Mustang was a new '66 GTA convertible, black/black/black HO 289... first SVT was a new '98 coupe, black, black. The latest, a '03 convertible, black, black, black... '00 Lighting, black, black. All of them... fasternail!! Well, really the pickup is my oldest son's... mighty quick for a 5000 pound pickup. We're kindo' like commies around here... they all belong to all of us but I like to bragg a little and call them all MINE when no one else is around.

I'm new here to this list, although I have been reading here for a good long while... Not new to Fords, SVT Fords nor computers... I've been around since back when they had tubes in them... ALL of them had tubes!! Well, maybe the SVT's never had tubes...

I'd probably be one of the happiest cats in this ol' world if'n I could get rid of the infernal and infamous 'wheel hop' in that little black car without having to throw away a perfectly good pair of Bilstein shocks and spending a war pension on some QA-1's. I just refuse to believe that Ford's SVT cats came just THAT close to building, arguably, one of the finest automobiles EVER... and quit when it came to the rear shock absorbers!!?? Anybody got any new ideas about a fix on that little problem??

I've put a little over 14,000 miles on that baby since last July 8th and have absolutely no complaints that seem to be common with some of them... I did have my dealer do the trick on the IRS, checked all torque on everything including the preload on the pinion... the mechanic did find it to be a little 'loose'... It called for 8 in. lbs. and we found it to be 5. That little dab did seem to all but eleminate the 'clunk' between shifts..?? I'd suggest this be done on all of these little suckers whether a feller has any noticable problems or not... presently. If you have it checked before that ol' 12,000 mile mark rolls around it's covered under "bumper to bumper".

Well, let's punch 'send' and see what happens here... brother Wayne

1965 Mustang coupe purchased for $860. I took it apart and put it back together many times. Upgraded the suspension, clutch, exhaust, intake, and carburetor. I always wanted another Stang but nothing really tickled my fancy until the 2003 Cobra. I didn’t want something that may not hold its own with any other car on the road and this 11 second street car can certainly hold its own. There's nothing like driving the fastest production Mustang ever.

My first Mustang was an 83 GT that the previous owner was racing. The engine blew and he told me he wanted to get rid of it so I picked it up for 300 bucks. It was gray with a black accent like a Mach 1. It had, what I am told is, the super rare factory cowl induction hood. I had black, aluminum louvers on the rear window. It was super straight and had a non-leaking sunroof and everything. It didn't have an engine or trans when I got it but the previous owner did convert the rear to a later 8.8 inch rear axle.

A friend I knew had wrecked his 86 LX, well, it was wrecked for him by a drunk driver. So, for 375 bucks I bought the engine and trans from him and the interior plus the glass from the rear side windows and his shifter. His interior was black too so I replaced my ****py dash board with his newer one and replaced the plastic panels in the rear with his and the rear glass. I also used his carpeting and center console.

I washed it up, pulled the ****py pinstriping off, fixed the rust and replaced the prop rods for the rear hatch. We slapped on a set of slicks and after I was all done, I droped it off the jack stands, registered and inspected it and drove straight to the track. First time out it clicked off an 11.62 and I was black listed until I got a cage. So one run down the track was all it saw.

Then I got screwed over by a "friend" and lost the car. Last I saw it, someone had a fiberglas hood on it, painted over the gray and black Mach 1 paint scheme with an ugly yellow and switched the front end to an 92 GT front end (looked way stupid). I was sad to see that because I took one hell of a loss on the car and all the work, engine, interior and paint I did myself, with no help. I miss it and I'll probably never find another 83 like it again. It was a sweet ride!

Nice thing about the 83 GT was it was one of teh lightest GT's ever made because it was essentially a hatchback LX with some dress up parts, no ground effects and a different front bumper cover.

Believe it or not, a 1984 SVO. Wonderful car, very well tuned from suspension to brakes to engine. Felt a lot more than 175 horses, especially when turbo spooled up. Very easy to lose traction in the wet. My wife hated that car because it was never happy until it went fast, which it did furiously.

Really appreciated its handling and light front end when I moved to a 1988 GT. Used up the front tires in a few thousand miles on that understeering beast.

Good story behind this...I love Ford trucks but I always wanted a Mustang, my first one would have been a tricked out '86 GT I almost bought 5 years ago. A week before I closed the deal I wrecked my F-150 and had to use the cash for the Mustang to repair the truck. So here I am five years later and I just had to settle for a 2003 Cobra as my first, not a bad trade. Just goes to show what's meant to be is meant to be.

2000 GT - Great car, nearly decked a sceptic that called it "A Pony Car" (check out effingpot.com for that). Before that, European cars that handled great in corners. Good job there are lots of corners in England!!

Oops, forgot to say, arrived in USA 26 June 2000, Drove GT away from dealer 29 June 2000 (after paying of course)

85 GT with the 4V carbureator. dark grey. bought it in '89 with 50k miles on it. it was very neglected and i restored it - new paint, stickers, oem interior etal. really sweet. then some ghetto rat smacked into it in 2000 and the insurance company totaled it. should have gotten collector's insurance.

biggest heartbreak in my life! promised myself i would not get emotionally involved with a car and now guess what?!

In 1976, 1965 notch-back, 6 cylinder, rare 4 speed, father had bought it new. I rebuilt the motor, ported the head, added a cam and headers with glasspacked dual exhaust and a 2 barrel Holley 500 CFM carb. At idle this thing loped like a big V8 and when you got on it it sounded like swarm of crazed bee's. Ah the good old day's!

I purchased a 79 Mustang Turbo Cobra (in 1985). I sold it in 1988 to by a cheap as possible brand spanking new 5.0 LX Notchback. It went 13.3's with slicks, 3.73's and Ford Motorsport off road exhaust. I sold that Mustang to my brother in 1991 and went Mustangless until 2001 when I purchased a low mile 37,000 Mustang SVO. I just sold that last fall to get ready to purchase and new SVT Cobra. Probably wont be till next spring. though.

127bull---I also have a 66' 289 Hi-Po, :), in the same predictament though, time and money but it is in process.

Along with my very first car a 1966 Mustang Straight 6 in 94', was in pretty good condition too, also on the restore list. Having problems finding out if it was the "Sprint" 6 though, it appears to be, at least the decal says so, but I want facts.

And 2 years ago I bought a 90' BOSS 302, :).

Current Ride is a 99' Camaro. I know I know, shoot me now, long story on WHY I even have that car.

I am looking into the future and I see an 2005 Cobra in my garage, lol. I'd get one this year but I am concentrating on buying a house, 1 thing at a time I guess.

My first car was a 90 GT convertible triple black. I have had 5 GT 5.0 verts in the last 10 years, I just need to stop selling them because all I do is start over with a new project. I have an 88 GT vert and am keeping it as my daily driver. It looks kind of like a gang banger car up here in pick up truck land! (Colorado)

My first Mustang, and car, was a 1969 Vert. Had it for three years through high school. I loved every minute of it. I've never owned anything but a mustang since. Guess the '69 "tainted" me:tmb:
