I get a kick out of my wife. She always gives me a hard time about how anal I am about my ride. I guess probably the funniest thing I did was take a lint brush to my convertible top. What about the rest of you?:jawdrop:

Personally........If I see a finger print anywhere on my black Coupe it is removed instantly without hesitation, with a micro fiber cloth. Even on the engine.

I have not been caught in the rain yet in my '03 but if I did in my '97 Cobra I would wash it when I got home in the rain and dry it in the garage.

Its a car, get over it, then drive it like u stole it. Had mine undercoated so I wouldnt worry about rain or salt. Not to say I havent washed and waxed it several times in the past 5 months. Drive it, rain or shine! Too much fun to put away.:bna :bna :bna

not an 03 cobra owner here...but a 96 cobra owner (orginal owner)...my anal thing...i tell ppl they cant touch any paintd surface on my Cobra...(this includes leaning on it...some have asked if they can  ) even if opening or closing the door...it confusses many ppl :tmb:
when i wash my car i pull all 4 wheels off...i wash all the suspension and wheel wells...then i wash the wheel/tire both side...then use mother chrome polish on my chrome 95 cobra r's...then i use tire dressing on both inside and outside of tire...then wipe down all suspemsipn parts and what ever else i can reach with the tire dressing...plus give a coat to the fuel tank cover
i wipe down the engine every time i wash it...my engine bay is cleaner than most new cars...and it is 6 years old
when i chamios the car after washing (i use about 3 different ones depending on wher i am using it on my cobra) i open the hood, trunk, and doors and dry all the water from those places with one specific chamios
i could go on and on...i think i am pertty anal when it comes to my cobra...just ask my friends

YOU MISSED WAXING THE O2 SENSOR BUNGS!
I guess that would be me...never touch the paint and use a terry cloth to open the doors, lift and close the trunk, etc. Probably comes from years of showing concours. Then again, I have enough Meguirs 26 on the car that a damp cloth will wipe fingerprints right off and dry with no swirls. Car has never been washed except when cleaned for delivery. I'm not real keen on water spots in hard to get to areas. Garage kept and a California Duster used between drives. I guess that's anal, but it keeps me happy!!:cbra: :tmb:

I have a 95 Cobra, with 60k miles on it, it is a daily driven ride, The interior is still brand new, seats are just starting to break in, but the exterior, well
the front bumper was hit while parked at a store, of course the person who did it, didn't wait around to apologize, and the the rear was hit at another store, and same thing, the guilty fled.
so since then i haven't really spent to much time keeping it clean, when my motor is done being built, I am having every paintable surface painted Mystic, and the only dirt it will see is rubber from the track. but Pam works great
just spray race and rinse.:cbra:

If I drive the car to work, only if there is no rain or wind it still gets the car cover. Parked in the garage car cover. No one touches or leans on my Cobra. Never driven in rain much less snow. I freak out If I have to drive through standing water. I go out to the garage and lift the cover and just stare. I even use paper floor mats so my floor mats won't get dirty. No one has ever sat on the back seat. When I had my 96 Cobra the wife suggested putting a car seat in the back so we could take the grandkid, she never asked again. She still can't get over how anal I am, but I tell her there are a lot of others just like me!:cbra:

it is so comforting to know i'm not "crazy" i hate finger prints and no one understands why. i have to show them what i mean. also the nieborhood cats are going to start disappearing if their owners don't keep them in their yard or at least out of mine! :fryem:

OK maybe I do understand about the neighbors cat. It really pi**es me off when I clean it just to come outside in the morning and see foot print. If I ever find claw scratches, IT WILL DIE. Cant always park in the garage because of working on the Chevelle. (PS also a registered CCL holder) lol.
park that brand X outside! Put the rightfull steed in the stable.:bash: O.K. I might have it coming, but I had to say it.

i build a shed for mine but it's not closed in. and the cats sit and watch me clean it. (from a safe distance, out of bb gun range) so yes when i see prints in the morning i'm pissed! they wont just get up and down etheir. no they got to go up one corner hit the roof, stroll around up there then exit off the back somewhere.

I wash mine no matter how cold it is. Last week it got a bath in sub-30 degree sunshine. Looked good when I got all the dirt and salt off of it. Otherwise it lives in the garage at night

Its put away till the snow stops up in Wisconsin, about the middle of April. Its sitting on wooden blocks & has a car cover over it.
Of course we are in Florida for the winter, too bad we don't have it here as its great weather.

I haven't laughed so hard in awhile. I am "Joe Anal" with my Cobra, but not as extreme as some who have posted. I wipe/dust my car off every single day ( It is garage kept, and the wife's BMW stays outside LOL !). It has a bazillion coats of Mother's on it and I wipe the rims off after every drive. I keep a little detailing kit in a cardboard box in the trunk so I can keep her looking fine no matter where I go !! My wife is totally used to this behavior and gives me no grief over it. Especially when her Bimmer looks like a brand new car every day ( 2001 525ia sport ) because I'm all over that one too ! Oh and what occupies the other space in my garage? Why my garaged and covered Hot Rod 85 GT H.O. Stang, Oxford white hardtop hatchback with 103,000 original miles since new ! I'm a sick man but I want No cure for my obsession !
There is nothing wrong with a slight obsession. That is what I've heard.

Just got in fromthe garage. Pulled all the wheels off, cleaned the inside with tar remover(had lots of undercoating overspray on them) then waxed the whole wheel. What a pain, I have to be nuts. After admiring the results had to Wizards Mist and Shine the whole car.....as if it needed it:rolleyes: If you guys ever used this Mist and Shine you will never use anything else....guaranteed:bna

I brought it home and rode it all day, (6-22-02) in fact the dealer's wimpy wax lasted about a week. I wax it by hand with Meguires Gold Class about every 2 months, I use a local spray wash to keep it clean because it has an awesome brush and since it never scratched my dark green Eldo I trust it on my Silver Cobra. I use it on my wheels and lower body but just spray the dirt off (what dirt) my car only gets dusty. Only caught in the rain twice this year. Never once last year. I blast out the wheel wells, ehem (my Snakeskin wheel wells that is) with the high pressure hose as well as the wheels before I brush them.
My cat??? Yes he has graced the car with a couple of scratches, and paw prints are common, but I don't chase him away with a BB gun. I must admit he can't get into the garage any more, so that's probably why I don't have more damage. They can really scratch up a car, my caddy's got marks that tick me off. The buff guy rubs'em out twice a year for me though.
I just love the Satin Silver....you can't see spots until your on top of the surface much less dirt. I followed this car at night after it was covered with road dust etc., and it still looked awesome, it shinned like it was new. I washed it finnally and did it again and it didn't look any better. Imagine that.
My car looks best at night I think, oh yeah. Luke Skywalker never had it this good.

It's not just a car, for some of us it is a representation of success in our life. I feel that working 6-7 days a week requires some reward, well mine is spotless outside the window of my office! I tried reading your entries to my wife to prove that I'm not the only crazy car person! People in my town know me as the car cleaning guy or Mustang guy, so I know that I'm viewed as obsessive from my neighbors, I'm really not, just don't touch it when your sitting in it!, levitate!!!LOL

Well Brothers... I am so glad we come together on this subject.
I actually bought this car for my wife, that's what I tell her anyway. We bought in early December and I think she's driving it maybe 5 times. I always volunteer to drive her wherever she wants to go...
Yes, she wants more mods too; those are coming soon. We are building a new houe and the car is getting 2 stalls in a hugh 4 car garage which contains a large workshop as well.
Over - board? Nawwwww I think I need a lift so I can get under it easier for cleaning...:bna

I drive my Cobra only on weekends. All week long the car is parked and covered. Wash it twice a month, but clean it every weekend before and after I take it out. Specially the rear wheels, brake dust is horrible:rant:

The dealer my girlfriend bought her Cobra from thinks I'm nuts. I've asked to have the car put on the lift before we take delivery so I can photograph the undercarriage and document all of the factory inspection marks and stickers.

I live in Fort Lauderdale, So I have to wash my cobra in the garage do to the African Sun in south florida! Cant wait for winter in south florida!:D

African Sun? I think your talking about Cuban Sun in Florida, I'll have to double check "Scarface" for the refrence..."Ju got it".
You guys ie WE are not NUTS when it comes to documenting or gettin a lift to get underneth it. If I could fit a lift I'd have one. As far as cleaning the wheels...I take em off and yes I do wax the inside rim as well as the whole wheel, I did it twice when new. It makes the brake dust just blow right off for a couple of months at least. I only do it at the beginning of the year and my wheels look good with very little effort. No spot rinse is awesome. Of course I have Satin Silver....the cleanest looking color of all.
Hey by the way, I just ordered the third set of tires to be mounted next Tuesday (ehem, a yeah I only have 7200 miles, SSSSOOOO).....I'll be frying these down to the steel belts all weekend, and I'll be thinking of y'all.
I have yet to actually duplicate the avitar because I just can't hold her down when I'm beating her, but man oman have I freaked out with hellacious burnouts. Did you ever hit second at about 15-20MPH from 4500RPM???? Whoa Baby is that cool. Man this car just fights for a hook like no tomorrow. I love it. Of course I know I'm on streets that are a little slick, and NO I don't do that to new tires, but hey, it don't take long.

I'm getting a new garage, and we're spending as much on it as on the new house that comes with it. We bought $3,700 worth of solid wood cabinets, and spent $250.00 on industrial floor paint. It's drywalled, heated, and insulated. All this so that my cars can have a nice place to spend the Michigan winters. Do ya'll think that's extreme?

Me thinks that you will find that dust to be rubber.
I first thought it was brake dust asc well but when my front wheels were always clean and the rears were black it dawned on me

I went a step further on the new house and got an oversized 3 car garage with a 3rd zone(heated and a/c). I like to be comfortable while in the garage and I'm sure the vehicles enjoy it.

We just bought a new house. I spent $200.00 on industrial floor paint. I spent $4,000.00 for cabinets. It's heated, drywalled and insulated. All in all, we spent as much on the garage as in the rest of the house. But my two mustangs can have a nice place to stay, right?
