I took me a while too figure out how to sprint in my focus...
with the tach at anything over 3 and a moderately fast "let out" the wheels always slip.....forget about racin in the rain?
I snagged all my fastest times and starts by taking the focus to about 3800 and dropping the clutch in two stages all with a total clutch work time of about1.5 sec.
stage 1 is clutch out just past quarter way immediately. (revs drop)Total time 1- 1.25 sec
stage 2 is after the revs drop and pick up just past 4000 just drop the rest of the clutch and get ready for a smooth second cuz it comes fast
If any body has any tips or teqniques for the focus all will be helpful....or any ford racer for that matter......
............BUILD'N a SLEEP'R

technique #1, practice your shifting so that when you go to the track you don't accidentially shift from 1st to 4th, and end up complete embarrassed that your first run with the car was a 22 and change that will live for all time in a Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords :D

Compleatly stock, my first run, it was 15.23. Bolt-ons 14.6s consitantly. After the Supercharger and computer, internals, N20, I'm now running 12.4s consistantly with my best et of 12.36. A launch of 3500, (keep foot at same posistion) ride clutch for 1.5 sec or so at 4000 until the vehical speed catches up with the RPM speed. Let the clutch out as you floor the throtle. A stock SVTF should run 15.2s. Another hint, shift at 6950 to 7000 from 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th, you'll hit the power band better, but ride first all the way to 7200. That is how I launch everytime, evan after my mods. I am sure you know this, but do not dubble clutch, no need in a SVTF, tranny has good sinqros. I just simply let the throtle out to about 1/4 throtle, and pop the clutch in and out as I slam it into gear. As stated above, practise shifting BEFOR the track, under pressure, when you are really trying to be fast, you may miss judge the clutch engagment and grind, that would really slow you down. You should not have to worry about missing the correct gear, the tranny linkage is set up real nice. Hope this helps, let me know your new times.

'03 Focus SVT Clutch
I just got back from the dealer, and the mechanic said that he noticed I had premature clutch wear, so he pulled up a bulletin that is not normally known about. He showed me the old tranny and said that even though the mounting holes are threaded, there is some shift in the dowel guide pins, and a shift of the tranny even as minute as four-thousandth of a degree will cause clunking and premature clutch wear! So part of the clutch is covered as well, AND the dual-mass (read: expensive) flywheel, too! Hooray! But you may have to really bug the dealer. I’ll try and get the TSB number for you.
And, the tranny is brand new as there are no rebuilds in the system, since it’s a Getrag German unit.
