I have a 97 Cobra, and am looking to get a new exhaust, without much look, any suggestions from anyone, flowmaster, or any other.

Thanks

Do you have to comply with emissions in your area?

On my '97, I'm running a Bassani X-pipe w/cats and Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers. No drone at highway cruising speeds, screams like a mutha at wide open throttle, I cleared the dyno room when the car reached 6,000 RPM:tmb:

I hear good things about Magnaflow, they weren't around when I did my exhaust four years ago. Better pricing/quality compared to Bassani I've been told:)

Thanks I run the Borla XR-1 system with an off-road X-pipe.

i have heard chris' system...nice and loud....very nice sound

i have SHM LT headers...O/R h-pipe...and flowmaster 2-chamber cat-back on my 96 cobra vert...also very loud and agressive sounding...lets just say u can scare the $hit out of some ppl with it....cruise beside them (coasting) in 2nd or 3rd (i have 4.30 gears)...floor it and as u are blasting past them...look back and see them jerk the wheel or something...works really well with older ppl...hehehe :tmb:

Watch that 'older people' stuff. Don't let the gray hair fool you. Some of us will have you pulling to the side of the road to check why your car stop running after we leave you in the dust listening to your pipes!;) :spinem:

Two of my favorite set ups are on two of my friends rides. First Bassani x-pipe no cats with a Borla XR-1 cat back on a SHM 01 Cobra. Second is Bassani x-pipe w/cats with a Magnaflow cat back on a 99 Cobra Vert. I would have to say that the Magnaflow system is my favorite.

I don`t care for the sound of Magnaflow and think they are overpriced for a new system on the market that hasn`t had a chance to be proven.Just my 2 cents!

Petsnke, did you do any before and after dyno with the x-pipe and cat backs? The reason I ask is, the Mustang shop that put on my Dynomax said they ran into a mis-match once where putting an x-pipe on a car with some cat back system resulted in lower hp on their dyno. But I don't remember the brands. I'll have to find out before I get one, but just wondering.

No I didn't dyno before exhaust, but my numbers with just a K&N, Bassani X w/cats and the Dynomax Ultraflows was 278 rwhp/284 ft lbs torque. That was done on an ideal 40 degree fall day though. Now I can't speak for the Dynomax catback, I just have the Ultraflow SS mufflers with stock pipes.
