Hey, I have a question for you guys! All of the sudden my headlights now turn on automatically. They never started doing this until this morning! So, I want to know if your headlights turn on by themselves when it's dark outside and if possible how to over ride this feature.

If you figure it out, please post the information here as I'd like to have that feature.

My lights come on when I start my car but it has nothing to do with the time of day. What is happening is your forgetting to turn your lights off with the headlamp switch.
Focus headlamps can be illuminated only if the ignition switch is in the on position. So if you fail to turn lights off with the heaflamp switch in the on position when you turn the ignition off they will be extingushed. When you next restart your car and it is dark out the lights will seemingly come on automaticaly. Of course the lights also illuminate automaticly when it is light out. To over ride this feature you need to turn the headlamp switch to the off position.

Dude, I don't think I even have a "headlamp switch"!!! The lights only come on when it's dark outside. Then when I turn the headlight switch one time the parking lights and instrument pannel lights come on too. But then if I turn the switch again nothing happens because the headlights are already on (unless it's daylight of course). And if I leave my headlights on and take the key out of the ignition the headlights turn off but the runners stay on! Maybe I overlooked this so called "headlamp switch"? Can someone please tell me where it is?!?!

Dytime running lights... Sounds like you might have them. The headlights come on whenever the cars is running. Not any other lights just headlights. Maybe you have an SVTF that was for Canada.

Doesn't anyone else have this problem? I would really like to override this feature somehow. I like to drive around with my running lights on at dusk! But my headlights come on automatically and it's annoying.

I think BlueToy hit the nail on the head with this one. Being so close to Canada you must have gotten a Canadian SVTF with DRLs.:wtf: Call the SVTOA and give 'em your VIN# and see if they can identify your car as US or Canadian, or at least they may be able to tell you about the lights.
Keep us posted.:tmb:

what's wrong with having your lights on during the day, dusk, or dark?
You can't see them, but others can. Let me say as an older person, as the cataracts grow on the eye, a cloudy day gets real dark. That is why old folks turn in front of you, they don't see on cloudy days or at dusk. There fault, but it is your car that is S#$T afterwards. I turn my lights on any cloudy day, dusk, or dark.
Those DRL are **** though, just an irritation due to the BRIGHT flare in your mirror of the car too close behind. I'm getting a BB gun. Regular lights don't bother people during the day.

Problem solved!
I went to the dealership and they just replaced some "switch" that wasn't working right! Now you can look for me cruising around Southeast Michigan once again with just my runners on!

I took my SVTF into the dealer the other day as my water pump started leaking! (AUGHHHHHHHHH JUST ONE MORE TIME TO THE SHOP!) anyway!
I took the "fog light mod" off and put the relay back in but I put it in the plug just below where it was supposed to go! Turned the car to the on position and had daytime light! but no fog light! So....
Get another relay just like the white ones that are in there and put it in the # RL-12 block and you now have daytime running lights! They turn the headlights on at about half the "on" headlight switch power!
Guess that was another way ford saved by not including the relay! Much like the pollen filter!
:bna HAHA FORD WE FIGURED ANOTHER ONE OUT!!!
