With 225 miles on it I hit a dog. Ended up being $2400 in damage. Bumper cover, SC aftercooler, power steering aftercooler, head light, fog light + misc. brackets. Glad to have it back home, in the garage and covered. Oh, the dog was my first Cobras meal.:wtf: I hope I dont eat any more:D

Every car I have ever owned.....something has happened within the first couple thousand miles....a dint, a ding, some crazy lady on a cell phone driving into me......Now I have this Stang.....and am waiting....I must admit, if my first ding is a dog.....I'll mount the damn thing over my fireplace...with the owner's head...We have a leash law here for a good reason as neighborhood dogs like to run in packs.....Think of it this way..Cobra scores first kill....:)

The accident thing is so wierd. I usually buy older cars and fix them up or just drive them till I'm tired of working on them. So the wife had been bugging me to buy a new car, I like alot of the newer designs but none of them that I would be willing to spend the money for until I saw the 03 Cobra. Anyway I got mine in August three weeks later somebody backed into the front and punched a hole in the front cover and drove away with no witnesses. Then on Oct 16 I'm sitting in traffic on I-80 it was five lanes wide where I was at. No cars are moving "NONE" I hear tires squeal behind me, I look in the mirror a split second before :bash: ...

The car is back together and working well. They replaced the exhaust the lady bent it. They are louder than the ones that came on the car.
I feel your pain glad to hear you got yours back as well.

Drives and feels the same. Only concern now is the boost guage wasn't going to 10 as it did before (maybe goes to 3) I'll try it again when the weather breaks. I did cover my A?? with the dealer in case it is dog damage related. I HATE DOGS

Frank glad to hear you have your car back and there is no traces of the dog left on it. Did ford do the repairs or someone else. I took my car to ford to get rid of some orange peal and when I went to pick it up it still had the buffing compound on it. They cleand it up and it looked great after the detail work. Rachrse

At the Ford dealer where I purchased the car. They did a great job, by the way. The body shop manager really pampered my car.

I guess misery loves company. My 03 Cobra got rear ended last night. Couldn't see any sheet metal damage. The good news is that the Eclpise that hit me dove under the rear bumper instead of hitting it flat on. The left exhaust got bent up to the wheel. I'm not sure what happened underneath yet. Worried about the IRS stuff.
Still waiting for the adjuster to see it.
What's anybody's experience with replacement parts. The dealer's collision guy is giving me some BS about the insurance company paying for used or aftermarket parts only. I told him to do some homework. This is not your ordinary Mustang there's only 13000 of them and that its got unique parts like bumper, exhaust and suspension, etc. There won't be any used parts as they know it.

More to come. bones
:(

Bones, when that happened to my Cobra last year the adjuster never did come out here to look at my car. He called and said take it in to your body shop of choice and make it brand new again. That they did, they cut no corners.

You can tell them that you want all genuine Ford parts. They HAVE to replace them with them if that's what you specify. After all, that's what was on there to begin with.

I thought insurance companies lost the ability to IMPOSE "LIKE KIND AND QUALITY" (LKQ)?

Farmers Ins. tried that on my 97 Tahoe in 99. We went round and round because my office was next door to the body shop. It wasn't pretty, but I won after all. The adjuster actually called the Police because I threatened him. If it weren't for the shop owner backing up the fact that he told me to "buzz off, I should have known better", I would have been arrested. He also ran right out of a local sports bar in town 3 weeks later when I went in with 2 freinds for a few beers. All I said when we recognised one another was..."There is a God", he ran out so fast it wasn't funny. Little does he know that if I didn't drop him in the first few seconds I would have been in big trouble. I got the last laugh on that ******* after all.

EH EH EH. It's nice to have 2 Brothers, Brothers toughen you up.

Well, last week one of the neighbor kids decided to ride his scooter on the rear decklid of my mineral gray cobra. I got an estimate for $1,500 and the kid's mother says she does not have the money. I guess I will have to go through my insurance and have them subrogate.

Sounds like that kid needs a smack in the puss.

1500.00??? WTF did he do with a scooter?

I love Mineral Grey. I don't know why I didn't just get it instead of Satin Silver, (good thing it's so easy to live with).

So what there's no Father to back up that kid? Go find that SOB and get your money, or kick his a$$ at least.

I'm so sick of excuses from people who cause trouble. We have to make good on our mistakes in life, it's tough, but we have to do it. Make that kid do chores or something but don't risk the rise in insurance premiums.

No father around. Just a woman who adopted three children from her deadbeat sisters. The kids are generally pretty good except this instance. She is claiming it on her insurance. I should have the car fixed soon.

Sounds like that kid should meet the same fate as the dog in the original post:D
