I just wondered if you guys could give me some input.
Do you think that April 26, 2003 is too early to hold our 2nd Annual Road Rally?
Thanks,
GaborVincer

Laura, I think that April is OK it's cooler time of the year but mother nature is unpridictable it could be 30 C.:tmb:

The problem is most people who are lucky enough to store their vehicles for the winter don't take them out until May.

It looks like so far that most people think it may be a bit early. I personally don't care because I drive mine all year.

What exactly is a road rally? Are the roads closed off or is it a cruse? My Lightning is my daily driver so I know I will have it out in April ;)

This is a navigational rally on all open but paved roads. You are given a set of instructions and have to follow same from check point to check point. At each check point you are given points depending on how fast or slow you got there. There is a time fixed already on how long it should take to go from check point to check point so the purpose is to be as close to perfect as possible. The instructions vary from check point to check point and may be written directions, or other types of things some are harder to follow than others. Plus you need a navigator in order to do this. You really can't do it alone it would be kind of hard to do. I hope this explains it.
It is a lot of fun and can be very funny when you are driving down the road and see everyone going the otherway. Then you wonder, am I going the right way or not. Or if you get lost completely. We had a car last year get completely lost but they still had a lot of fun.
Ask Gabor about it he came last year with his little brother.

Okay I just have to add up my emails and such to see what the overall opinion is for this event. We need to make sure we have enough people to cover the costs. I will confirm once I know.

Yes you are started at intervals but no you are not given the correct amount of time. The "Perfect Time" is driven at speed limits posted and stop lights and such are taken into account.

I am waiting to hear back from the people who organize this for us with some alternative dates since April may be a little too early for this but I will definately let you all know. It is a lot of fun and can be challenging too, but in the end still fun. Especially when the roads are not marked properly.

That is why you have a navigator with you, (not the truck). They do all the work and you just get to do what we all love to do, drive. The navigator has to be able to decifer the directions and tell you when to turn etc. Once we have firmed the date I will provide you with details of exactly how it works.
