This is a phenonminal site, I can see myself here everyday catching the latest news.

I'm 25 and I Just purchased a 99 Silver Contour SVT, and I love it. Coming from Driving a 98 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC its a whole different ball game that I am going to enjoy getting used to. I have 2 questions I was hoping someone could help me out with. (1) I notice that some people mention the # of their car (i.e. 569 of 2307). I was wondering how to find what # Contour I have. Its probably located somewhere on the car I just haven't found it. (2) I am missing the lack of a descent arm rest for the middle console. Does anyone know a place that could assist me in locating either an add-on or a new cover to the console that would provide something to lean on?

Thanks!!

Call 1-800-FORD-SVT and give them your VIN #, they'll hook you up with your build number. You can ask them for their fax number and send them a copy of your registration, and they'll send you a build certificate.

Regarding the center console. Yeah, it sucks. Your best bet is this:

1) Grab a console from a 5-speed equipped 95-97 Contour from a junk yard
2) Clean it up, grab a can of interior dye from Ford, and paint it to match your car's interior
3) Swap out center consoles. You will have to create a bracket that looks like |______| (except upside down) nd have that bolt to under the current dash (you'll know what to do once you have the new/old one in position.

The old style consoles have real arm rests and storage capability. The only problem is, the cupholders suck. Then again, the 98+ cupholders suck as well, so pick your poison.
